Spring over

I just purchased a 84 wagon and plan on doing a spring over conversion is there a kit you can buy that has all needed for a spring over. Shocks,high steer, brake hoses ,spring pads. Or should i just get everything seperate.just asking for any ideas or links would help.
How much lift will i get with a spring over and IS it ENough for 35 s thanks

Hey David,The best place to get all the weld on brakets, like perches and stuff is IH8MUD Banner Advertising have tons of crap there. Brake lines you can get at NAPA, or get the SS from MAF.Hy steer, there is 4x4labs, all pro, Marlin crawler are the big names Ive seen.I have the Marlin set up and have had no issues with it, and the last time I checked it was the CHEAPEST.Youll need a knuckle rebuild kit, and Id get that from Marlin as well with his heavy duty seals.To re-gear your diffs, there is a guy in Carson who will beat the SNOT out of anybody around this area in price, and he does good work. He also did my DC rear shaft too. Not much of a talker though.Lift will be around 6 in and youll have no issues clearing 35's.Might want to consider Longfields (if you can afford it) to throw in when you do the SOA since it will all be apart.Chicago

You can get the spring perches directly from Ruff Stuff Specialties or from OrangeFJ45.

I dont have a SOA on my truck, but I've got a 2.5" OME lift, and I'm planning on running 35's next time I need tires. Once you do your SO 35's would easily fit.

I fit Q78 Swampers (about 35.5") on my 60 with a 3.5" spring lift (7 years old now) and a 2" body lift.

None of the issues related to a SOA and MUCH easier to install... Not as much lift of the frame away from the rocks but the body lift got me tire clearance and it also gave me additional room above the engine... enough to be able to install a York for on-board air in the alternator position (it wouldn't fit before as it hit the hood).

All of that said I am considering a SOA in the rear only - I am constantlt slamming the springs/perches on the rocks. The SOA will get the springs above the axle tube... I'll do it with new custom flat-ish springs if I do it.

Thats a great idea...... i think someone should supply all the required parts in one kit and call it good. It would eliminate the investigative work and shopping at several locations.

I may take this one and run. Look for the 60 SOA kit soon.

Good luck. I hope it works, but everyone has a different idea of what they want, and there are almost too many variables to make a kit that made everyone happy.

I think that Proffitts tried to do something similar with the pre-turned front axle and all the needed hangers.

Send a PM to OrangeFJ45 (Valley Hybrids). He can build you a kit and send you everything you need. Everything meaning new brake loines all the way to a lengthened drivesahft, if you want.

imho, nobody makes a "complete kit" because if you ask ten people what they'd expect in a complete kit, you'll get ten different answers. there are multiple options for most of the items required to do a successful soa conversion. anything from bushings to brackets to tabs to shocks to brake line to.....can be bought from multiple manufacturers.

do some research and then put together your own "kit". that way you'll get what you want and not what somebody else things is right for you.
