Some words of encouragement here.
Don't expect this to be like other events. No name tags, no strict schedule, no pressure. Only thing I can say that you won't want to miss is the morning coffee, Wed evening group picture and the raffle.
We pride ourselves as being as laid back as possible. Just be cool and enjoy the reunion.

Was planning on driving my 70 series but plans changed and now I'm driving the 60 out. Pulled it in the garage for a bunch of work Monday. Pulled the injection pump, oil cooler, and thermo housings to fix a coolant leak. Replacing the turbo, brake booster, brake hose, and rear u bolt spring plates today/tomorrow. Hoping to have it done this weekend and be able to put a few miles on it before I head west on the 20th.

My wife told me no way I could get all that done before the weekend.

We have some exciting things coming to SAS this year. One of which is Matt and his crew with Ouray Mountain Rescue will be at the KOA on Monday evening at 6pm. He will be presenting the ins and outs of what they do year round in the San Juans. Teach us what to do if we are the first on scene in case there is a need to help. SAS prides itself as a community that is always willing to help no matter the need.
Please plan on attending this opportunity to learn from one of the best volunteer organizations in North America.
Ouray Mountain Rescue will also be on hand before and during the raffle this year selling T-Shirts to help raise funds for their year round rescue efforts. In return we will have a hand full of Auction Items that will go directly to them during the Raffle. Last year was amazing and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can donate to them as a big thank you for their commitment to helping people in the San Juans.

Man I can’t whine or complain after seeing what @roma042987 still Needs to finish…

After my clutch kit, new transmission jack and new Dewalt cordless impact got stolen I’m been too annoyed to fix my input shaft leak. Times getting close and I can’t find the clutch kit anymore, cruiser outfitters could possibly get one in the next few weeks…possibly.

So my crossroads is do I just pull it, fix the leak and hope it stops the slipping and roll?

Do I wait for another couple weeks to see if it comes in and do it at one time.


The risk is pull it twice to fix it now then hope the clutch comes in before I leave?

Or wait and maybe be SOL?


I really hate thieves. Who the F takes a 13BT clutch kit in rural Colorado!!!

If you want the Missouri redneck answer- just boil the oil out of the clutch disc with some dawn dishsoap in a goodwill pan...

If it's slipping on the way we can do this on the grille in camp for bonus points.

Yeah it only slips when you get down the road about 15-20 miles I’m assuming that’s when the leaking starts.

Once it sits overnight leaks are gone and it doesn’t slip. Its not a horrible slip, usually big load or boosting over 14psi.

I’ll look when I pull it and see, I’m hoping it’s salvageable.

I'm late to the party and still on the waitlist, but I'm hoping I can make it in. Looking for a campsite if anyone is bailing. I just finished up a lift, rust repair, and front axle rebuild after almost half a year in the garage.

Dropping my trans to check some clutch noise... it started in Nebraska on the way back from SAS last year, a constant "scritch scratch." Looking in the inspection cover I could see at least one of the springs on the self adjuster cam ramps had made contact with the clutch fork. They're probably all destroyed at this point. I can't tell now if the noise is just that, or the release bearing. I get some random thump and jump in the pedal while releasing, which I assume is the ramps flopping around with no springs. It's extremely annoying. I guess I'll find out when it's out tomorrow. I have a new standard non self-adjusting pressure plate arriving tomorrow, so hopefully the release bearing is good. Then if I have time I'd like to swap in some 3.70 gears. These 4.88's are nice on backroads and off road, but 2700 rpm on the highway is wholly unnecessary now and just makes extra noise.

I am so glad I have a friend nearby with a lift that is sympathetic to my plight...
