I now have a Honda EU2000

If quiet operation is important, a Honda EU (1000/2000/3000) is the only way to go. You'll pay more...but you get more, IMO.

If you're thinking about going cheap, I have a new (used only once) Champion 3500 watt (68db) RV-ready unit in the garage for sale...it's not very small though...

The Honda's are awfully nice. I just got a 2000.

Why are you selling the Champion? I have been thinking about picking up the Costco version of this generator. How loud is your Champion, if you ran it all night would the neighbors raise hell?

The Honda line is amazing. Virtually silent and very reliable. Number of people I know use them camping and can sleep at night no probs. 59 db for some of them running....quieter than the avg 60 db conversation. Bonus: not all that expensive either.

Have a honda eu2000 that we use with our Horizon trailer. Get the Honda.

If you're looking at the Honda, Doug and I both got our's here:

Don't know if the guy's still doing this deal, but just follow the directions. Great deal and real fast shipping. They pack it very nicely surrounded by shipping peanuts so no worries of damage.

I love my EU2000i. Great hurricane genny; easy to move/evac with and then set up when you get back.

Camping World has the Honda's on sale right now for about the same price...

...Actually lower if you are a CW member because you get an additional 10% off.

thehulltruth.com deal via wise sales ends on 9/9/06

I don't know...how close are your neigbors?

:D

at about 60 yards, the champion was as quiet as the honda EU2000 that was 3 yards from me.

I got some tips on how to quiet it down...I'd planned on doing the mods last weekend, but didn't have time.

As far as generators go, for it's size and power output, it's pretty quiet...it's all relative, I guess.

It's rated at 68db at 3 metres, IIRC...there's a chart around here somewhere that gives equivalent comparisons of decibels.

I contacted a friend to see what the cost would be with his Camping World Presidential club discount. He states that the club price is $1849+ shipping!

On another note, those of you with popup camper A/C units, is a 2,000 watt generator sufficient enough? The next size up generator is twice as costly and weighs quite a bit!

Ordered ours 9/11. Will be here Friday, still giving the discount.

Doug,
How much were you looking to get for your Champion?

Do those Honda's start easily?

Or is it like trying to start a weed-eater ? (have to pull start it 27 times...)

turn on - open gas cap air valve - choke on - three pulls - listen to the quiet hum of pure 110 power

if you are having trouble with your weed eater - you might need a clean plug - finer gas mix - and a small carb adjustment -

weed eaters always seem to have a rhythm to starting choke/vroom/stall/nochoke/pullpullpull/vroom/warmup-just like a chainsaw :(
