You could prolly move in for a while over on Shoal Creek and nobody would notice, not like that project is going any faster!

Looks great man, I'll have to buy you a couple of pints to ease your pain when you get the bill after 61 days in that shop :bang: Gonna look sweet though!

BTW: Why didn't you fill the antenna hole in the PS quarter, you still run one?

I'm gonna remount the old holder and screw an antenna onto it. That way if I ever needed a CB I would have a radio antenna. And it's part of the old school look.

I'm pleased that you're retaining the old school persona, including the pin stripes. Ya gotta love the retro look.

BTW, your truck looks mahvelous...in my best Billy Crystal voice. ;)

Looks awesome Kelly.

Are they going to adjust paint color to blend in with the front?

Dave the plan was to go with stock Mustard 532 even if it showed a little difference. My thinking was that I would go for the top, doors and front cowl in the next couple of years. We will see, tomorrow is D-day as I should have it back by the end of the day.

Decision Time

OK boys here is the result with paint. There are still a couple of imperfections to work out over the weekend before it gets striped.

I gave them the code for Mustard Yellow 532 and now I have a very clear idea what 34 years in the sun does to your paint! Personally it looks awesome but I can really see that I have opened a can of worms and that I am going to have to learn how to do body work so I can finish this, even if its one piece at a time.

...and if you get the angle right with the camera you can really see the difference between the new and old! When they laid it down they said the PPG Single Stage was really transparent, this is 4 passes. In person the color has a lot of depth and I cant wait to see it outside to see how noticeable the new and old will be.

I even short the cheap SOR tailgate for summertime. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

While the work looks stellar, I would have had to match it man. I know you, that whole truck is going to end up in new paint. Maybe that was the plan all along ...

Well I think I'm going to start breaking down the hardtop and disassembling doors. My wife even said I should just do the whole thing. If I can get down to the base pieces and do some of the prep work maybe I can go the distance without going broke. I will broach the subject on Monday and see if they are game, because there is no way I could get a finish quality that would be in the ballpark with what I saw this afternoon if I was first timing paint in my garage.

Kelly, your truck looks spectacular.

Have you thought about compounding the old paint as a short term fix? You may be surprised at how much of the original color would come back.

I'm hoping mine is completed by Christmas. :frown::crybaby:

Kelly,
Could you save money by just painting the exterior facing parts?

May be the right call Dave.
