Seized throwout bearing?

The engine is a sb350, trans is an H55. Trying to figure out what caused the previous owner to experience this damage? He sent these photos before replacing the clutch and bearing.
 
maybe no clearance, it was always spinning?
 
I was thinking it seized? Correct me if I'm wrong; the input shaft spins freely within in the throwout bearing so if the bearing seized it would have turned with shaft ate away at the pressure plate?
 
If it is pressed on backwards, it won't turn, so it is the same as being seized. See if the back side spins freely to confirm.
