Over the years I have had mediocre luck with meta cans surviving for very long. I have switched over to plastic. I have had good luck with both the heavy duty military stye (although they can be expensive/hard to find for fuel), and I am currently having good luck with the Spectre cans that I found on Amazon for about $25.

As for metal cans, I would keep them bone dry and aired out well for long term storage. John

I use diesel fuel shaken around inside or add a bit of oil to petrol before storage.

Keep fuel in them and do not store on concrete.

You could try a sloshing compound...available at Aircraft Spruce and lots of other places.

I agree with inkpot as to plastic cans.

How about some of those desiccant packs. I use chlorine in my pool and it comes with some large packs. Even rice in a mesh bag would absorb moisture. I had a couple of my jerry cans forty years without rusting out.

Oh and one more thing, their fill nozzle doesn't leak a drop when filling your truck, unlike the US Jerry cans that leak all over your hands and feet.
