Well, here is the "new" 1967 FJ40 that I picked up for $2,500. These pictures are from right when I got it home. No rust through, only surface rust here and there, and no dents!!!

It needs brake work and the shifter seems to be stuck. The roll bar is coming out, and I have already removed the extra tank. It will go back to original. I will fix the tranny and brakes very soon. The engine runs smooth so far. I have removed some of the prior owners' "extras" already and will post more pictures after I clean it up a bit and can take them in the daylight.

Nice job. Looks solid!!

Nice catch  here, this cruiser would sell for 3 x what you paid :bang:

Congrats :bounce:

Nice score keep the pictures coming

I dig the older rigs...Nice with the rear step too...........unless..you don't like the rear step....then you could send it East....:)

Looks like fun waiting to happen...Glad you're going back towards original.....

I just think it is so neat to have it like it was in the 60's. It just makes the drive so much more enjoyable for me. :steer:

It is kinda funny because I used to do all of the engine/tranny/TC/axle swaps and spring-overs and such, but it kinda got old. I find now that restoration is more of a challenge and that the research and knowledge gained is priceless.

The more I restore, the more I realize that I need to restore. They only made these things once.

BTW ...... I lOVE the step! SORRY.

If you can see, I have the step there, AND some sort of trailer ball drop mount that is bolted into the step. Was this a facctory option, or is it a home job? It looks pretty original.

IF ANYONE IN THE PHOENIX METRO AREA WANTS MY ROLLBAR FOR FREE, LET ME KNOW BY EMAIL ASAP, AS I AM GOING TO CUT IT OUT SO I DONT HAVE TO REMOVE THE TOP. IF YA WANT IT, YOU GOTTA HELP ME REMOVE THE TOP. LEMME KNOW ASAP. I WANT TO REMOVE IT VERY SOON.

when you need 3 speed on tree and engine parts, look me up. I am swapping out 1F for 2F, and 3 speed on tree for 4 speed. When I am done you can have old stuff for the ride.

I'll take seconds if he passes...My floor shifter gets in the way of my little one that seats on the bench seat...Love to go back to column....

Been a long time since I used a rollbar like that but I didn't need to remove the top to install or remove. Just unbolted rollbar removed the front seats and worked in and out of the driver's door opening (remove the door stop to get it the door open all the way). Might take a few measurements, could save yourself some work.

Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing. I will try that. It is an aftermarket rollbar, probably from Manafre. I have a post on the Copperstate Cruiser page, where I list some other parts that I have. If anyone needs some stuff, check it out.

Another pic, after removal of the cheesy little winch and bolted-on 30 pound plate that was on the front. You can see the "extra" hole in the top for the extra tank that was added and subsequently removed. New bumper on order, to be here any day.
