Another refresher....1972 Fj40

I've never seen a dash without a radio-opportunity, a solid lower pad from cluster to far side of passenger. Unicorn (ish)?

That brown leather case looks like a vintage, made in USA, Zebco 4-piece spincasting fishing rod? I was looking at them on Ebay recently. Is the condition of this rod acceptable?

I don’t think the solid lower dash pad qualifies as a unicorn configuration. This is my 1972 (9/71) FJ40.

This might be the first time in history.

No one has commented on the bezel yet.....
Your bezel is upside down.

And one of it’s eyeballs is punched out.

Nonetheless very nice 40. The clock is cool.

You said it was just a mock up...
Spot on - I forgot I even wrote that. Funnily enough when I popped it off, the screw heads were absolutely wrecked but the original spacer bushings were totally intact. Cut down some OEM fuel hose and voila, new bushings that will last ages and not collapse as easily. Worked great on my last truck. Now for new screws....only had two on-hand.

and no one has called it an FJ Cruiser yet!

if you can still get it.....the Toyota headlight upgrade is a simple must-do

Ha! I stopped noticing and just saying thanks for the compliment....assuming it is a compliment. Koito is absolutely happening, usually keep a box or two on-hand for this....which now I have to buy another set for yet another truck. Whoops.

@jblatz twisted my arm when he put up a 72-74 tool kit. This was the final piece to the puzzle. I now have the original inspection lamp, owners manual, tool kit and paint can along with jack and rods.

When cleaning out the truck I found a random key that I had no idea what it was for...so I kept it in the glovebox. Low and behold, the owner used the padlock on the spare....it's as if he read the owners manual or something....unfortunately it isn't a Alpha, but cool to see it used correctly.

Which leads me to new wheels, tires and lug nuts. I ended up going with Osaka Nut as they are yellow zinc and 151% cheaper. Almost tempting to leave caps off - I like the look. For the curious; they are Kanati Mud Hog, 35x10.5r15.

The patina on that bumper is perfect. Looking better already!

You're absolutely right, Cody! I'd like to keep this thing nearly untouched visually....except for removing the flares and driver antenna....neither of those are worthwhile.

I might go the route of opening the bumper for a fairlead so I can mount the 8274 I have on a bracket like factory would've.

What's up with that basket on the front?

Spot to carry your deer/elk/kids?

Where did you buy the Osaka nuts from? Need a set of lug nuts and remembered this post. Google search isn't giving me anything....

on edit. I do see now that you got it back....spray painted :( Hopefully there was some sort of justice served to the pricks who stole it or had it in their possession.
