OK after some searching for information about the rear step I have a question or two.
One: Did any year step have a hole drilled for a hitch ball?
I have seen pics of many that did but there is no honking way that would be safe. The one I bought recently has three holes in it. One for a ball, the other two I'm assuming are for safety chains... I'm about to weld up the holes and just wanted to make sure they were not OEM.
This step fits the 1974 bumper I have installed on my 2/71 so I'm assuming it's correct for the year?
Two: Is there a TRUE OEM step or are they all after market? How does one tell the difference between them?
I'll add pics of mine in s few minutes....
The pic may be misleading.
It's upside down. I'm getting ready to weld on it. The weird thing clamped to it is a CPU heat sink. Has copper on the other side. The weld won't stick to the copper and will make a nice flat surface so there will be little grinding to do.
