0-60 mph in 3 to 5 business days with this rig.

Slow going getting out of civilization but hauled ballz at a screaming pace towing this overloaded experiment.

So far so good.
Made it to our planned stop at Bottomless Lakes SP outside of Roswell.

Dog got to chase a ball for a bit and we rinsed off in the cool clear.

Update: I just got everything sorted out. Turns out it was not #6 but instead #2 hidden directly behind 6. I could not see it until it really started squirting.

Funny how no matter how tight you crank on #6 the leak does not slow down when it is coming from #2.

Ugh!

All good now. Thank you all for the help and advice.

I am back en route to Angel Fire. Maybe make it most of the way there tonight.

Lovely 10 hours spent in Clovis, NM. Haha!

Looking for recommendations for a dispersed camping spot east of Lake City. We'll be coming through Lake City on Sunday on the way to Ouray, with an arrival ETA of evening. Saturday we'll be making our way from Cathedral->Powderhorn->Slumgullion Pass (possibly the coolest named geological feature in the whole state), so somewhere in there would be good for our Saturday night spot. It puts us at a comfortable distance to Ouray on Sunday. If we can make good time and get closer to Lake City that's even better.

Anyone got a cool spot over that way?

Here is a quick spot next to a stream. It is on the way to our cabin so I might see you there on Sunday when I head to Ouray.

If you are willing to drive for 30-45 minutes from the pavement then I would recommend heading up trouble hill. There are a good number of dispersed camping spots all through the area.

Thanks!

@TheBlackSheep That’s actually the way we’re headed. South out of Saguache for a couple miles, then turn west and take that all the way to Lake City. Leaving Denver this morning so we’ll be up there in the early afternoon with @Fyffer.

We’re a little out of your way, but I’ve got access to a shop in Los Alamos if you need anything! Good luck!

@Shells Jim (&Karen) here! Our first year was SAS5 and I remember how small your kids were! They’ve grown up so much.

I’ve had a standing invite for my kids to come (now 13 and 17), but the answer every year has always been “eww, no, why would we want to go to that?” And so they choose to spend the week with grandma in Ohio visiting family, hanging out on the boat, going to Cedar Point, etc. Honestly, for a kid, I kind of understand that choice! Maybe one year I can convince at least one of them to come along.
Sounds like they have no lose options. Maybe when they can drive? I wonder when my kids will be over it, there are many hard things about the trip for sure. I think the good is still outweighing the bad. Hope to meet your kids one of these years soon.
