No response on the engine thus far. I wish there was a number to call on the ad. I did email him though.

Not a whole lot new to report on. I am about to go back to work at the school and I will need to put the hard top back on soon for that. I did get some new bib lights just because I thought it would look good with some fresh ones installed. also why not I think I only payed 15$ per light. Ill install those this weekend. I also purchased new door hinge bolts from overland metric. The threads on mine were looking kinda rough.

I used the salt wagon for a kayaking adventure recently. and here is a photo of the fj40 at work.

It was so hot today I really only got one bib light installed. classic easy job that turned into an hour and a half of looking for the right tools. I could not find my small sockets to get the bib light off and I could not find a shorty screw driver. I ended up just going to the hardware store and buying the tools. by the time I was finished with the first light I felt like I was about to have a heat stroke so I decided to go inside haha.

I think the junction block was replaced with an aftermarket one. and I was fiddling with that for a while to get the ground wire attached. I think I am going to look for some replacement electrical junction blocks. can anyone send a picture of how it should look? I am not worried with the wiring up there because I know thats correct. I just want to see how the factory block is attached.

You can still get the factory junction blocks from Toyota. I replaced both of mine not too long ago. I think I got mine here: Wiring Junction block | - https://landcruiserspecialties.com/product/wiring-junction-block/

Not sure if they’re cheaper elsewhere.

Think I am putting the hard top back on today. Its going to rain later this week and I will need it back on so I can at least lock it when I am at work at the school. I have not forgotten about the soft top and I am planning on buying the bows soon. Been eyeing others builds. Just to state some goals for the winter to keep my self on track with the build: Gotta buy a heater soon. This jeggs branded one looks very similar to the one I pulled out.JEGS 70603: Auxiliary Heater [172 CFM, 12,000 BTU] - JEGS - https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/70603/10002/-1 Might even bolt right up to were the old one was. looks very similar Unfortunulty the one I pulled out was really too far gone to save and it had quite a few missing parts on top of the heater core that leaked like a strainer. Going to buy new shocks and springs sometime this winter. Not sure If I am going to buy in parts of buy the whole kit yet from either Dobinsons or OME. I like the dobinsons shocks much better as they dont have the plastic rock shield like ome. then finally a goal is to find one of three engines: 1f, 2f, 3fe. Just depends on what pops up close and how much it is. because after all I am a school teacher and NC pays garbage to teachers.

I feel ya - I'm also in education. I need to find a second job to fund my parts list!

I find that if I do a few parts a month that its not so bad haha. But yeah I have to have a second job. What do you teach?

I work in our curriculum department now, but I used to teach elementary P.E. and middle school Technology.
Cool I teach Prek-12 Art. Looking forward to the new school year. we start teacher work days next monday.

Just got a Notification that my headliner from @Cruiser Corps has been delivered! Very excited to see it. I am going to be sad to put the hard top back on this week but at least I would be looking up at a nice fresh headliner. I will post pictures of the installation. wish me luck. I should be able to get started on it late this afternoon.

Almost forgot. I am a little bit unclear of the law In NC. But I did pick up a vintage NC 1964 tag for the land cruiser. I believe as long as I put the registered tag some where in the vehicle I can use the vintage one. this is the info on the law on this that I could find: "Any motor vehicle of the age of 35 years or more from the date of manufacture may bear the license plates of the year of manufacture instead of the current registration plates, if the current registration plates are maintained within the vehicle and produced upon the request of any person."

Does anyone have any input on this?

I have the year of manufacture plate on my old stuff and have not been bothered

love that color plate you found

I have had in on there for a few weeks and no one has said anything. Yeah the later 60s ones are black with yellow letters in NC. I think I like the earlier 60s like mine look better. Its looks pretty cool at night with the plate light on too.

So I found an early wiper switch to install on the fj40! I am excited about that! I also reinstalled the hard top today. Will miss the wind in my hair but I am sure Ill take it off again soon enough haha.

Also here is a picture with the headliner. Again not super happy with the results but i think most of it was my fault. better than looking at the raw fiber glass.

Installed the Junction blocks to replace the aftermarket ones I had in there with factory ones. The aftermarket ones seemed nice but the mounting was home made but it worked. I just didnt like that it was not oem. I also finished installing the other bib light this afternoon. Unfortunately the inner fender was cut to add power steering in the past. Just kinda noticed that today.

Interesting how some rigs have the fender junction block and how others don't. I have a US spec, 6/70 build that doesn't have one.

That is interesting. Honestly I thought all the early ones have them. Huh... strange for sure.
