I am so thankful to have our wedding go so well! The land cruiser was a big part of the wedding. It was the get away vehicle! I have to thank @theglobb And father @Shyrock and their family for capturing some epic photos and video for me that I would other wise not have. I am so grateful they came! They are great people! its hard for a photographer to not take photos at his own wedding too haha. Wedding went beautiful and we are heading to Taos New Mexico for our honey moon next week. Any land cruiser people there please let me know!

Additionally I broke the FD cable to the vacuum switch. It was so stupid. My buddy Mike who was in town for my wedding is a big car guy but mostly chevy stuff. I wanted to show him how the vacuum actuator works. of corse I snapped the cable pulling the switch a day before my wedding. (I ordered an aftermarket one kinda out of pannic after I broke the cable spector) I switched the vacuum lines and unlocked the hubs so I could drive it for the wedding. Right now the fj40 has 2wd! Does anyone have a spare fd switch I could buy? and any pictures of how it attaches in the vacuum actuator?

Update: I found where the FD cable broke. Looks like an easy enough fix. I should be able to get this done right after my new mexico trip. the part just shipped from Spector. unfortunately its an aftermarket cable and switch. I am kinda unsure how it all goes together being that its aftermarket. The little image is what it looks like.

I might have that part I pulled off mine. I’ll double check today

Well I went ahead and purchased rear seat covers for the fj40 from @Cruiser Corps . I love how the front seats turned out so I gotta do the rear. They still have horse hair in them haha. But Ill tear them both down like I did the front seats and replace the horse hair with foam. Seat Covers / Rear Jump Seats FJ40 1965-1971 - https://cruisercorps.com/products/seat-covers-rear-jump-seats-3?variant=12736756678722 so Ill be tearing into that when I get back from taos as well.
We take a ton of pride in our seat covers. Great to hear that you are happy with them! We are currently in the process of having all the replacement foam for the bench seats as well as the rear long jump seats and it will be at a better price point than some other company with FREE Shipping as well.

I received my seat covers the other day. I am going to start tearing down my rear seats after work this week and painting the seat frames. Additionally I ended up repairing my FD switch by welding a new cable into it. I still would like to buy another one though. The replacement aftermarket fd cable and switch I purchased from spector was not as good as factory and I did not like the fitment. so I kept it as a back up and will use it if I need it.

I also got a new headlight kit of semi sealed beams. I think the wiring is going to be a bear though. Because the fj40 is an older one. More on that to come but if anybody has any info on how to do that let me know or has done it before let me know.

I saw this fj40 in Red River New Mexico on my Honeymoon. I think it was a 73. But unsure. (what the owner said) It was a very cool one. Had a 4speed manual and a 1f 155 engine. I did notice the fender openings in the rear were cut. (thought that was weird somebody would do that. One thing I really liked was the factory style soft top. I had not looked at one in person before. I really want to get one now. would be perfect for around here at the beach. before seeing one in person I was just going to do a bestop one..... but this is soo much better looking.. and I think the one on this cruiser its a cheeper top kit.

Would anybody be able to make suggestions on where to get a top and the bows and the windshield channel? I know Real steel has the bows and a few other places. additionally a few places have the tops. I have done a-lot of research on these already and apparently tops from Julie are the way to go. (is she still in business? )

@BenjaminCA where did you get your softtop frame? any helpful tips? also love the bronco build videos!

if you have that part let me know. Id like to have a factory one. I ended up welding a new cable in mine but id does not look as good. Functions though.

Search @wngrog ‘s builds he put a new Toyota light kit in an earlier rig with the solid light buckets and earlier harness.

Thanks! Ill look at it. I was hoping somebody would know somebody that has done it before.

Started tearing apart my rear seats yesterday. I am glad I started as there was some pretty bad rust scaling underneath them. I am going to do some wire wheeling and rust conversion with some paint prep after work today. Luckily all the rust scaling is hidden when the upholstery is on it. I think I am going to try and leave most of the rear seats un touched and just preserve the patina of the exposed metal by clear coating it after converting. We will see how well it works. I may end up completely respraying it. Hopefully by the end of weekend I will have them completely re done.

I will post some pictures after work today.

Random but @CondeCruiser Do you still have the soft top frame? or the top?

Some other things coming Up: I am borrowing a friends plasma cutter and I am going to tackle the little rust spots on the rocker sometime soon. I gotta find a good weather weekend.

I checked last night for that cable. I didn’t see it anywhere obvious. I know I didn’t throw it away.

I’m 98% sure it is in the tote that my transmission/ transfer case is sitting on top of. I wasn’t in the mood to move that though LOL.

I’ll get it out of the way today. I ate my Wheatley’s for breakfast

Haha I completely understand that. In your own time just let me know when you do. I will certainly take it off your hands. Thanks!

I do, but I'm keeping it for mine.

It's very close. A couple more days of working in the shop and it should be driving. Just hard to find the time.
