Hey guys it's Friday evening. My starter is crapped out. Anyone have a rebuild kit they want to sell? Or a rebuilt starter?

Im not sure if local dealers will have it in stock and can't check till morning.

Send me a PM if you can help me out.

Truck is safe in the garage so it's no emergency, just putting the feelers out.

Check the local dealers in the AM.
28226-66060
28226-72010
28235-54380

One each.

Boulder Toyota, Go Toyota, Stevinson Toyota West, Groove Toyota all show 2 out of 3 of the parts.

Only one missing: 28226-66060 Only 4 dealers nationwide show this part.

Stevenson Toyota West shows the starter in stock: 28100-66060-84

you might also post up on the local club forum and see if someone has one you can replace once you get one from a dealer

I live just up the road from you but alas don't have what you need.

I think Nuclerlemon still has the 80 she is parting out. Not sure if there is a tarter there

Thanks guys.

Looks like I have a Denso Toyota Reman from the PO. This is the 2.0kw yeah?

Stevenson Toyota West and tell them you're in a pickle, they'll give you a friendly discount. Boulder Toyota is OK, but a fair schlep from Parker. Mountain States Toyota will tell you $600 and you can wait a week for the privilege.

I have an account at Autonation. It's just too bad they don't like answering the phone. But with part numbers I can go to retail desk.

Thanks for the help all. Definitely worth rebuilding mine I think.

Can anyone identify if this starter is an OEM and fromt which year? My Friend gave it to me to rebuild but I want some more info before I use it.

Does not look like OEM or Denso, the few I've seen have a Toyota or Denso sticker visible on the motor when installed.

He mentioned it's from an earlier 80 LC, it's supposed to be stronger/better/bigger than the ones in the 1997.

That is a rattle-can aftermarket "rebuilt". Before society became overly sensitive and being blatantly truthful went out of fashion, it might have been defined as a "Mexican Overhaul", meaning the exterior was cleaned up and painted and that's about it. Of course today we would never use such offensive terms to define substandard replacement parts. We would simply say (under our breath with a nod and a wink to the fellow next door) "Vautozone has struck again!" The core is OEM, after that it is a crap-shoot.

A spade is a spade......Or is it a shovel?

That is the 2.2 kw starter, the most powerful one. You can tell because the two long bolts are internal and the gear is tucked back in a sleeve. I rebuilt one a couple years ago following Kernal's lead. Still starts great.
