Next, I tried multiple locations for the high lift Jack. Inside behind the drawers and outside on the spare tire which contributed to the irritation in the previous post

then inside behind the drawers

This limited storage options as there are some things I would like to put here.

So I purchased the ARB jack, Played with it in my garage and it seemed a lot better for jacking up the truck. I know a high lift has other functions. I have a winch, plus I never wheel alone
IMG_0773.JPG

I made some strap loops on the top of my drawers and strap kits from Ace Hardware to custom make straps of the right size
IMG_0774.JPG

And now nicely snug in the back without taking up too much room, plus I can still get the side panel cover off

Looks like I need to wipe the back down from wheeling dust :)

Those shelves always end up being my dustiest spots too... But at least you’re out accumulating DIRT instead of home JUST gathering dust. ;)

Doesn’t the Jack manual state it needs to be stored vertically? Don’t own one but I’ve read several folks saying ARB specifically states vertical storage for whatever reason.

I looked and it does say that. Based on its design, I don't see any logic to that. It is a purely mechanical device with no fluid. There are many rack and even ARB front bumper accessories to store it Horizontal

In any case I sold the hi-lift

John, were you talking about the new jack from ARB or the Hi-lift? I answered on the Hi-Lift. The manual on the ARB Jack says "It is recommended the jack be stored in a vertical position. Not something easy to do inside the vehicle. I am going to stick with what I have and check periodically to see if the fluid leaks. That would be the reason.

There is a guy on Expo who stated it has to be stored in a vertical orientation. The manual doesnt say that exactly and he had a bad one delivered with a leak

the counter to that is ARBs own press release that states "JACK has an approved working capacity of 2000kg and while short and compact, allowing storage in your 4WD drawer, " They designed it to fit in the ARB Storage drawers it would seem by their press release

I was talking about the ARB Jack. I think @cruiseroutfit said he’s had no issue with horizontal storage as well. Just want to make sure you get a full service life out of it since it’s a healthy investment.

No issues out of mine stored horizontally, been that way since day 1. They are hydraulic (not mechanical) and pump won’t work horizontally fwiw.

Thanks for clarifying, Kurt. Hydrolic—in keeping with its BO-51 theme/look.
The ARB jack you put into the Cruise Moab raffle was the only pfize I actually wanted. Oh well. :hillbilly: Pricey for sure...but an interesting jack.

They don’t do everything he HiLift does but those things they do, they do 10x easier :D.

I’ve used mine for standard lifting & breaking tire beads, the two things I use a jack for nearly exclusively.

I have a question on your build... on how you ran the wires for the switches for the ARB lockers.

The ARB compressor wire harness comes with a plug about 1" x 1/2" on the compressor end and then 3 connectors on the other end for compressor front and rear switches.

How did you run the compressor and locker wire?

Should I cut them and solder them? or where is a hole 1" x 1/2" for the connector plug to get through?

Slee installed those so I couldn't tell you, sorry

I had used mounts to install my MAXTRAX on my truck. It made the MAXTRAX taller and the handles even taller. I had my cruiser and had a must do appointment that had no outside parking. Taking a deep breath I entered the garage and didnt hit anything until I came to the rear where these handles stuck up higher

original MT.JPG

These handles all broke and fortunately there was no other damage. I saw a post on Expo were someone went to lowes and made their own mount setup and I did the same thing. The angle of the bolts only required a spacer on one side (Rear) The spacer enabled the handle to fully tighten as sometimes it would obstruct the side as it tightened down. I may adjust and remove them, but it works for now and easy to get the MAXTRAX off

I bought some metal strips with holes and bolted those to the roof rack and then ran a larger bolt up for the 4 holes in the MAXTRAX. I used 3" bolts up front and 2.5" in the back simply because of the gaps where the metal bar went across. I would have plenty of both sizes and adjust as you need. Everything you need is at Lowes

I did just get back from Ouray and talked my Nephew into getting a white 200 and coming to Ouray as well. We had a blast

Dang, went back a few posts and will have to do something else with my Maxx Traxx

I don't plan on carrying the RTT all the time so will have to look at options other than the roof there

Hey Ken,

(I’ll delete this post once you’ve seen it so as not to clutter up your build thread...)

I have a MaxTrax rear-tire-mount that can hold 2 or 4 maxtrax quite well.

**I no longer use it...because after adding my aux tank, I now carry a set of Maxtrax where I used to carry a 4-gallon Rotopax on my Slee rear. Means I don the need the mount any more.

It works quite well as pictured below & you can still throw a Trasheroo there with it if you like.
-Make ya a good deal if interested.... ;)

(Again...will delete, or you can always delete since you’re a mod) ;)

Saw one of those. The ARB receiver bar was in the way. No need to delete
