You're welcome on the help. I didn't do much, just put on some bolts, yank on the pipes, and make fun of James and Jason, and dine on Natalie's very timely and delicious snacks.

Yup 10-4. Belt off and sensor left unplugged. Good thought though and thanks for diving in and helping out on the dirty side of the project!

About all the pics I have are already uploaded. During the wrench-fest I usually had a Craftsman in my hand. A couple random photos .....
In case you ever wonder if EVERY part of a 1FZ wasn't put through an engineering process. Green bolt first! Spelling .... not so important!

There were a surprising number of times (how many Jason?) the way to get something done was with a very long extension. In some cases over 3 feet. Put them on your wish list.

The extensions were priceless and i can vouch for Rice not taking so many pics and focusing more on forward progress. But the ones he did take were excellent upon reassembly ..... like where does this strap go type answers, without the 1000 words.
I took a bunch and can dump some here. Felt I was taking over his thread but there was a hungry snowbound crowd waiting and i know some of my own projects lack documentation

It all started with making room to work
And of course protecting the 'precious'
Tickys last ride..... ~5 o'clock on Friday
And fueling up for the big days to come we were fed shrimp gumbo at the end of the day of prep and before teardown commences.

From knee deep to elbow deep in a 1fz swap...
OK. Coming clean. I goofed up and wont even use the after midnight excuse though it was. I was in charge of bellhousing bolt removal and was breezing through them thanks to the last mechanic leaving a few out and the bottom 4 being finger tight requiring no tool for removal. Despite spinning them all in the correct direction
I missed one..... and Let RICE try and yank, cuss and wrestle that motor into submission until we realized there was one bolt left 
Probably cost us 30-40 minutes and maybe a few years of his rotator cuff life.
Finally attacking the last bolt from top once motor mounts were out and we could lower motor to open up access from above at firewall
Its about 2:30 and rice looks at me and asks "we doing this?" Its 22 now but tomorrows high is 26.... whats the difference (I know its 4 before the peanut gallery answers) so we open the door and dump our hard earned 67 degrees of thermal advantage from the lil buddy. Crank the hoist, push out the 80, roll hoist to side and push her back in. Some cleanup and reorganization for a fresh start in the morning and its 3:30 am. Quitting time.
Just a reminder of how serious rice takes his tool collection and organization. Not sure where he keeps the .50 cal but i dont wanna find out

day two begins. 3 hours of sleep somewhat negated by awesome breakfast provided by wife of Rice.... amazing! Pot of coffee, hashbrowns, sausage and eggs and were almost new again.
Almost. Pretty sure we were in a stuper stumbling around making multiple plans with countless revisions and a few ad libs when we cock an ear.... was that a diesel? @GLTHFJ60 shows up with his good friend Brian and helps us get sorted with a plan for the day.
While those guys are planning the attack, i jumped on the intake surface cleaning and vacuum line replacement. Amazing how fast 10ft of hose disappears. Wasn't quite enough actually

Good thing about multiple motors is there are parts to chose from, bad thing is there are parts to chose from! We decide which parts are going on and the process begins. I think Johnny was planning on pulling a motor, not putting it in but 15min after his arrival and without coffee yet the new motor is on the hook and headed for home.
An hour into the day and this beauty which is a repost but its so sexy i dont care... notice the drilled pulley for balancing..... to the ten thousandth!
Is headed in here. We are stoked.

But first all we have to do is swap a heater hose on the firewall showing an obvious leak at one point via the green powder patina. Que Johnny
Well ok almost only thing. There was some creative copper smithing to commence to return a heater hose hardline back to its original round shape. Hard to see but that is a tapered/flared allen socket adapter and a brass ball peen hammer at work... and my finger blocking the veiw :/ Well done
If youre paying attention youll notice weve had two more knocks on the garage door.... answered with GO AROUND! ..... were not opening that door unless necessary.
This use of the mini mandrel brings us to a point of notible mention about the Steves. Not only were their wrenching efforts greatly appreciated; along with James the humor and pop culture references along with the battle of the puns really did help the project along as well. Thanks all around guys!

Holy poop that went fast.... its noon. Time for a beer.... and another repost
Also of note this was by far the most wrenching and longest expanse of time in the the Shop d'el Strange and the least amount of beverages ever consumed. Hands were just too busy.
I think we all thought we were on track for fireup before dinner...... turns out that there is a LOT of nuts, bolts, connectors, puzzles, obstacles and tasks to come before that is possible. Plus, its just lunch time. Have you heard about this wife of Rice? Amazing support from behind the curtains so to speak. Pulled pork and a side of enfuego Takis (thanks to @jamesurq ) we are all now addicts with no cure in sight. Oh and cookies and eclairs if you left room

Pretty sure as a lover of all things EnFuego @FJ60Cam will be joining the ranks of the obsessed as well soon
Johnny and Brian had to leave as Laura was home with no power and no heat! chivalry trumping a polar party at @77 KROOZER s place they need to boogie back to durham. However cruisers being a close second as the love of his life Johnny sticks around long enough to make sure we are at least secure and the motor is officially part of the drive train..... at least with 2 bolts. Thanks again to El Presidente !!!
Down two dedicated wrenches... @stevezero jumps all in going down to the dirty side of business with total disregard for the new glasses and north face attire. We wrapped up bellhousing bolts And battled the motor mounts together so we could get the hoist out of the way as soon as possible to free up work on the top side

Time at this point has no meaning. The rip in the vortex of time/space equilibrium is apparent and even Brent cant explain it ! Even if he could I think Rice and I are past the point of comprehension and it would only baffle our last remaining help.
I think its around 5 when James is summoned by kids and shortly after 6 (30 min late) Steve needs to go to tend to family as well. Thanks to you both for the assistance. Every bit counted.
So next 7 hrs ( crap thats a lot of piddly little tasks and connections ) are absent from my phone. At least James was able to document some of the earlier processes. But its midnight and its all buttoned up. Is it really time?
Not yet. Always one to do it right despite exhaustion, Rice has left plugs and wires till last. Though he has primed the motor with the custom sst PS pump, poured half the oil in to drain from the top, we add the rest of the oil and spin the starter for 30 seconds at a time for 4-5 times to distribute the oil to avoid any dry bits on startup.
All the best photos are after midnight and now its Plugs n Wires time. We can almost taste the exhaust.
And its finally done, ready and waiting for someone to fire some electrons its way to bring it to life
1am. Moment of truth is upon is. A turn of the key and and in a half revolution of the starter and it kicks to life easy peasy. Both ecstatic its a lil bittersweet as we have success..... with a new and different noise. I had no words. I know how i felt for rice and im sure his feelings were tenfold of mine. Success overshadowed by questions. I want to offer and have a beer but only to drown any concerns..... however we both resort to a couple of pints of water before hitting the pillow hard.
The hood off, my phone's location, and garage make it sound much worse....

All thats left is a bumper/winch combo, a hood, and a swingout. Only problem with the last two are they are under all the snow that was shoveled from the drive
After we both tackle the bumper rice is wrapping up some remedial tasks and i bundle up to go hunting for a hood and swing out under a few feet of snow. Success.
Wasting no time, the key is turned, ctr diff is locked, and Rice is going for a drive..... starting with some drifting around the first corner right jnto hammer down on the straights. I love this guy! Dispite the dissapointment of the noise he comes back witha smile on his face. The benefit of balancing the whole assembly to the ten thousandth !!! (Yes ten... 0.000x and the largest discrepancy was .0002 i believe) and an added benefit is hes got heat. Serious heat! And the good kind from the vents.
He wastes no time in putting me in the seat and holy cow is that one smooth operator ..... with serious heat!!! I was blown away.
All in all an awesome execution thanks to excellent planning and prep by Rice and several of you here that braved the cold to come help.

And I have to say ... I would find it hard to believe there are many out there who can wrench for 24 hours in a span of 30 and keep their wits about them but you sure as hell did. I'll be there when you need me man.
Update .... the truck is driving great and the chain noise (as diagnosed) continues to diminish. At this point, even if the noise never goes to zero it's at a place I can live with it and be completely happy.
