you need a real tortch to get it really hot they come right off that way

I had to reuse my FJ40 pitman arm because the angle of the mini truck one put the drag link too close to the frame.

After fooling with this Pittman arm for almost a week last night I cleaned it and decided to install it with its existing arm...

Shame on you Mike.... That's tantamount to admitting DEFEAT :D

The mini trick Pitman arm doesn't work. Besides the issue with the drag link, it is too short so it doesn't have enough "throw" to turn far enough side to side compromising the turning radius.

I prefer the term "single jack" for my hammers :)

As pin said, you have to get that arm off.

Hi Tom!
No I haven't given up, however, my hands have as they are riddled with arthritis as such I can only rely on power tools for the extraction otherwise the pain is unbearable.
Today I received the tool I've been waiting for so hopefully in about 15 minutes from now I'll have that arm removed.

So here it is:

The Snap-On CJ119 tool did the trick!

congratulations mate I would have given up a week ago and cut it off with the angle grinder :)

Thanks mate! I was determined to remove that pit-arm without hacking it, with lots of support from the MUD crew and the recommended cocktail mixes, tools, etc. and lots of patience I prevailed.

A sweet success story for sure--glad you were able to get the thing off----So what was holding that thing on? rust?

Congratulations. The Snap On puller is tits. The hammers technique works well but it is cave man style. Sometimes you just have to man up and smack it hard.

Thanks! Pin_Head! If my arthritic hands allowed me I would have used the hammers trick, unfortunately I can only rely on power tools.

Lots of rust, but the acetone/ATF cocktail coupled with the Snap-On CJ119 tool did the trick loosening the stuff.

Was it loud?

Hey Eddy, no it was not loud at all, my hearing was overwhelmed by the impact wrench and the compressor trying to keep the CFM up, so maybe I didn't hear the POP!

I prob missed it before, but could you give the ratios for the acetone/ATF mix you used?
