I’m working on rebuilding my Brake M/C and having a difficult time removing the pistons out. Any ideas on how to remove them would be appreciated. I also tried hammering it with a screwdriver to see if it would free up but with no luck.
Thanks! Retaining ring is out. Some fluid came out the end closest end to the booster. The fluid came out after I hammered it with a screwdriver. I have a rebuild kit so not worried about damaging the pistons.Assuming the retaining ring is out, compressed air into the front port. If no compressor, using a livestock syringe with a tapered end and push brake fluid into the front port.
Thanks! I’m hoping that’s not the case but mentally preparing if so.If the gunk visible in the photo is any indication of the possible rust in the cylinder, you might not be able to salvage the MC due to pitting.
I have a sickness referring to wanting OEM parts if available. And as you know it can get very expensive. That being said if I go aftermarket who would recommend getting it from? Also wheel cylinders as well please? ThanksWhen I was a young man I used to rebuild master and wheel cylinders; still have all the hones and etc., but for a long time now I have just bought new ones - they are not that expensive, and the time and effort to rebuild them exceeds the cost of new. But to each his own.
