hit a roadblock. i made the assumption based on my reading that the 3 speed bell housing would have the same pattern as the 4 speed at the engine block but if need to use the 4 speed bell housing to mate the 4 speed transmission to it. well when i got the engine out it looks as though an adapter was used for a chevy bellhousing to the 3 speed and it won’t mate to my 4 speed but there’s also no block side adapter in my stuff to allow my 4 speed to mate either. now i have a bunch of parts that won’t mate!! it looks like i may have to buy a belhousing from advance adapters unless someone can make heads or tails of this for me!!

here’s the 3 speed

was this maybe an early downey adapter before the fancy custom bell housings were made?
I used this kit from Advanced adapters and everything was included. I did move the motor mounts 3 times to get the the shifter to workproperly I did have to heat the shifter and bend it to clear the dash.

I used this FJ40 4 speed to Chevy small block conversion from Advanced adapters. I did move the motor mounts 3 times to get the shifter placement right. I also had to heat and bend the shifter to clear the dash.

Like those. New from dealer or scrounge around?

Almost went the same route on my tundra until a set of 18” TRDs popped up on CL for $300.

i got them new from the dealer. they were $105 each i think. the rusty used ones that i could find were 500 km away and were going for $500 because they have mostly used tires on them still 🤣.

Just looked them up and they’re $106 around here.
🤔

i don’t have my receipt on me but they weren’t very expensive! $105 cad seems like an even better deal than i thought i got!! i think i was like $460 for 4 with tax! it was a significant savings over other steelies i looked at. unfortunately these need spacers which adds another $250 to the cost but at least i think they look period correct and for winter wheels and tires i’m happy. i wiped out a few weeks back because i’m still driving on a set of KOs that i bought used 13 years ago. glad no harm was done. just ended up on a snow bank just off an on ramp. but i already knew i was pushing my luck with them so i smartened up and shelled out!!

Good info on needing spacers, was hoping for plug and play.

Thanks,

i’ve been having some intermittent fuel starving issues. so i replaced my fuel filter. the old one had a lot of rust come out of it. i fear my tank may have issues. i’ll keep an eye on this new filter and see what happens.

but while i was tinkering and cleaning stuff i also decided to put my new wipers on. the old ones were missing the pieces that adjust the tilt of the blades which are also specific to blade attachments. i got a new set from cruiser outfitters also with some new brake cylinders and a knuckle rebuild kit. that’ll happen this summer when i can get my chevelle out. i’ll dig into red and do my power steering conversion i hope. for now ill be able to see during the melty season!! you can see my droopy wipers in post #177 if you look close. they didn’t work well

i added a couple pictures of the capture nut for these specific wiper arms. there was another thread recently that had questioned it.

have been having low fuel pressure issues recently but i got a new pump on today. will road test tomorrow but hoping it does the trick. i was sure i bought the exact same pump that i had on there but alas the new edelbrock pump was different from the old which meant another trip to get proper fuel fittings. groan. anyway one thing to remember for anyone doing this job is remove the clamps on the soft line before trying to start it🤨. fuel starvation after replacing the pump is a real head scratcher and will make you swear!!
