Could use a recommendation or two for a meticulous LRA tank installation in a 2021 LC200. Searched. Didn't see any related posts. Thank you!

Not exactly what you’re asking for and perhaps you are already aware, but LRA keeps a running list of reputable/experienced installers nationwide.

You can also try Duggy's Garage in Houston.
Price will likely be better than Austin.

I will say that any price quote I've gotten from Duggy's has been WAY, WAY overpriced.

Give AJ a call. He's a good guy, fair to deal with and knows the trucks back and forth.

For reference I had my 12.5gal aux tank installed on my 200 for $1000 in the spring. I got much higher quotes but this was from a reputable shop with average rates and they did a fine job. It can be done in reasonable time and shouldn’t cost $3000.

TBH-most of the shops are way overpriced and milking the overloading wave.

Yes and no. Duggy’s has always been overpriced for their work IMO even before they became popular. I was moving and all my tools were in storage so I asked them for a quote to change all fluids in my Tacoma (diffs, tcase, transmission, engine coolant). They quoted me $2500 for some routine maintenance. $2500!!! I took it to a local Toyota specialist instead and all all that done and more for $1100.

If I was the OP I’d shoot a feeler over to Duggy’s and see what they quote an LRA tank install for. As a reference I had Long Range America themselves in Boise install my aux tank and they did it for like $900. I’m going to guess Duggy’s will happily do an LRA tank install for at least twice that.

I would go with Micheal Goode, Goode's Off-Road of Rowlett TX. They were recommended by LRA, he's a great guy focused on the Land Cruiser brand for current model service to restorations and restomods of older ones. Installation price was 900 something.

***edit***. They have done lots of tank installs, and even have some kits in inventory.

I don’t know how much stock I’d put in that. At the shop they referred me to, the installer admitted afterwards that mine was only the second one he had done. I could have saved a lot of money by having my local shop do it.

Yea, the list isn’t the end all be all, but at least a jumping off point. My installer wasn’t on the list either, but I provided feedback and they communicated with LRA before and during install, possible they got themselves added.

I just want to say thank you for so many thoughtful responses with your personal experiences. It's only natural there would be some differences of opinion, but I appreciate all of you contributing to my question!

I did an install at Land Cruiser Specialists in Austin. There's a guy there, Hunter, who did a great job installing it. I would definitely recommend.

Who is the local Toyota Specialist who did your routine maintenance work?
