Turning some rings for the bead roller.
I keep getting to much tension in the floot from running the ribs with the bead roller.
I am going to make dyes that roll in both sides of the bead at once, this will allow me to run them slowly and still keep them equal on both sides.

Made the bead roller dies today, took more time than expected.
Made them from 5mm steel and some tube I had that fits the shaft of my bead roller.

Not much cruiser time this week, work and the :princess: are keeping me away from the shop.
Spend a few hours in the shop today, the washers on the dy’s are to small to create a rib high enough.
Made some bigger and thicker washers. Will try to get them done during the week.

Turning the new washers.

Four in total. These are made from steel cut to squares, drilled to 25mm, rounded the corners on the belt sander and turned on the lathe.

Second washer welded on, this makes it possible to turn it flat on the side.

Then cut the excess tube off and turned it down on the lathe.

As always, Michael... most impressive!!
Thank you Danny but it is not difficult to do. Just trying to explain how I do things for me and others in the future. If I get it wrong they know what not to do. And if for some reason I get it right.....wel that helps too.:hillbilly:

Changed the one from the previous picture and narrowed it to become the top dye.
Then pressed the bottom ones on the tube before turning them to fit.

It gives a nice strait rib.

The washers on the bottom dye are pressed on and can be made wider or narrower.

The extra length is to change the profile.
