Ali,

Where'd ya terminate your muffler, and do ya whistle now that your resonator is gone??

Jeff,

I hacked the muffler at the usual place where everyone else seems to cut it. Approx 16 " from the resonator. Yes, it whistles and is annoying me. I might have a muffler shop reinstall the resonator at a better place.

Alia,

That is one hell of a nice bumper! I would be interested in some more pictures and having a look at your cad files also. I especially like the way the tire is angled to hug the slant of the rear end and stay close to the body. Also the way the bumper integrates with the factory mudflaps and has an integrated hitch with lights. It appears as if you deleted the rear cross member and added your own. Is this correct? Also is the diamond plate step welded to the bumper or attached separately and removable? Oh, and roughly what do you think you spent in material? This is pretty close to the design I am planning to go with. I'd be interested in costs and time. Great work!

FWIW, I'm running a Flowmaster w/o a resonator and there is no whistle. :D I also have the pipe terminating to the side right behind the RR tire and heat clearanced ::) the factory plastic skirts.
It has a droan at certian rpm , but, no whistle.

pocholin,

Welcome to the forum.

We've heard a lot about the newer 80 series built in Venezuela. Good to know someone on this board has one.

Pocholin...

Welcome aboard...there are alot of people here who are very jealous that you can get such a Landcruiser, myself included. Where abouts in S. America are you? The wife and I might be going down to Peru this October.

Ali...
Very nice on the bumper design. I too would be interested the the CAD files you have.
D -rings are from Boeing surplus, I think they were $12 each............new they are $150
Whoa...you live where you could get these? Seriously something I'd be interested in, and probably several others...can you take some close-up pics of them? Those are cool rings...must have, can not live without! :D

Any other cool airplane surplus stuff we should know about? A buddy in Alaska used old airplane tires (probably '60's vintage, with springs IN the tread for winter use) on home-built swamp buggies...old tires but big, around 40" tall.

Thanks,
Mark

That's not even funny Scott M. Those guys are poison.\

I get deliveries from them nearly every day at the shop, next day and fairly reliable. Sometimes not the best prices, but cheaper than spending my time hunting for better prices.

I'm working on it. I'm not satisfied with how the sides look. They are 1/4" plate. I didn't put any cross bracing in yet because I'm looking for an alternative. I'll pick some brains and check out some rigs for some ideas at Cruise Moab. This is Phase one. Phase Two is the swingouts and adding some triangulation to the lower mounts and use the hitch holes.

I can see it if you're spending money that is not your's, but for your own stuff, those guys are almost like Mushro.

No grinding yet, so it will look a little smoother when it is done. Comments, opinions, advice???

comments, Gin?
yes, your pumpkin looks a bit sickly!

so junk... you have a winch in the rear?
Yeah, but it's a pos Supersuckwench X9. Actually comes in handy pulling loads into the trailer :D

So I finally got my modified Kaymar back from the Powder Coaters and back on the rig.

The PO put an extra 4 inch hitch site on the swing away for the gas can to hold a bike carrier or other device as needed. And he also had the telescoping light on the tire side. I had to completely remove it however and build my own as it was completely rusted out.

I'm not sure if it's standard from Kaymar or not, but mine connects to the bumper with 6 bolts on the bottom of the frame rail, and four bolts on the side of the frame rail. Not including the 8 bolts that are connected to the cross member via the swing away attachment sites.
