Advance Auto Parts is going out of business on the west coast, and shocks are about $5 each right now... options that fit FJ40s are Rancho RS5000x and Monroe Gasmatic. Anyone have experience with those? For $5 a shock I'm not too picky anyway lol.

And on advance's website, the rancho shocks say they fit the rear with "required 0 inch lift" but for the front require a 2inch lift. Is this accurate? No lift on mine right now.

Thanks y'all

I liked my rs5000. Nothing fancy but they worked.
I’ve had cheap procomp ES3000 I think they are called for 20 years or so on my rig pretty much the same as the rancho . Work fine for me for 5 bucks they are worth a shot. Not sure on size I usually look at the specs of shocks from Ranchos website. I measure resting shock length end to end on my rig and then pic a shock with correct ends and ones that extend 3-4 inches longer and compress to 3-4 inches shorter than resting length measured on my rig.

A lot depends on what year the 40 is?
