Working through all the little things that need to be dealt with at the end of a big build like this.

Brakes have been bled. Lockers have been tested. Clutch is killer. This is one mean little Cruiser!

I might be putting the carpet back in it tomorrow. Oh ya, it’s about to get tested on the pavement!

Where does your clutch let out? Mine lets out way up high. I'm getting a rebuild kit and slave/hose so might be best to check after that, but at the moment it's pretty high up. I've adjusted the freeplay on the pedal, my guess is maybe the slave is bad.

2/3rds up maybe. Not much seat time for me yet, I have also only done a solo bleed, it needs a two man to get the last of the air out. It’s about the same as it was before the work though.

I installed these in the last few days. These are from a 76/78/79. The color of brown available is pretty light in color so we went with black.

It does require som trimming here.

Getting ready to do some interior painting, dyeing as I have seen some call it these days.

Brand of paint I have is ColorBond. The brown matches pretty good. It is Volvo Brown. The others don’t match, they are Mercedes Borneo which is the tan and Toyota Desert which is greenish. I am trying to decide if I want to do this like Toyota did where only the dash caps and clam shell are oakish and the rest is tanish. Or if I want to do it more like an older BJ70 where it’s all oak. I only have one can of Volvo Brown which isn’t enough to do it all oak and I am not so happy with the Mercedes Borneo, it’s a kinda sort match to the original tan. Toyota Desert is totally out, to green.

I am really leaning towards the Volvo Brown on it all. I am doing calm shell, new gauge cluster surround, kick panels, inner door handles and the plastic panels in the back.

Here is the Borneo on the stock kick panel. Also the stock door pull handle.

You can see Toyota used three different tans-browns on this truck. Oakish on dash cap, clam shell and steering wheel. Two different tans on the rest of it.

The Borneo matches ok on the lighter tan stuff like the inner door pull handles, not so much on the plastic like kick panels. I honestly don’t think I can find a good match on the plastic panels, it has a lot of red in it.

Made up my mind, I am going oak on these.

And going tan or the Borneo on these.

Uniformity is most important here. I have spent some time holding things up next to the door panels and I think it will look alright. Sometimes you got to just go for it rather than spend a lot of time trying to get things perfect. As I have always said, this isn’t a restoration.

Here are the results of interior parts painting. The pink surface they are sitting on makes them look more red than they are.

Pry up on those very gently with a curved pick. Work them off slow and easy.

Nice, fit is good but the brown is a little bit greenish. They are a less costly alternative to Escape Gear covers.
