You wouldn't be the first ;)

But you just finished it!!!

Why are you selling?

I finished it a while ago, I merely updated the thread recently.

The reason I'm selling this:
  1. I rarely drive it
  2. I have a rock crawler (so wheeling this will never equal that)
  3. It's finished now
  4. I don't commute (via car anyway)

Whoever buys this thing is getting one hell of a vehicle for the price.

I re-read the lesson on scrub radius and highway wander - great info - but is there a reason why you went back from the 37s to the 35s? Was it just a matter of convenience for what you wanted to keep vs what you wanted to sell or were there performance reasons?

The 37s were pretty worn and I couldn't sell it in good conscience with tires that were very close to the wear bar. My dad was upgrading his Jeep with bigger tires so I bought his 35s which still have a fair amount of tread life on them. If I could have found 37s for the price, I would have gone that route.

I too find that statement funny. Care to explain the tech in how it would be better with a Chevy motor? @BigBenFJ

We actually know each other, and I helped him put a 5.3 and 4L60E in his FJ a few weeks ago. I was deeply annoyed how well the engine fit, how easy the wiring is, and how parts were cheap.

Well that solves it. Never can tell with people on the internet.

Because everyone loves pictures.

High pressure shocks are a pain to compress. But there is ample down travel.

Out of curiosity did you change out of the Yokohama ATs? Did you like them and would you recommend them? I am looking for a bit milder AT tire and just noticed those the other day.

Amazing build btw

Have had the Yokohama AT and HT on two different vehicles and would not recommend them. For us they have worn EXCESSIVELY fast (to the point on our 08 Highlander that we had them replaced under warranty) and they become overly loud after the first 15-20k miles. We have the AT-s on multiple vehicles here at work (Rav4) and they do horribly in the little snow that we get and are super loud. So much so that our administrator actually put in a requisition with state motorpool to have them replaced due to the excessive noise they have on longer trips.

Personally I have had good experiences with Cooper, Michelin and Falken and would recommend any of those. If you are looking for a more mild looking AT type tire look at the Cooper M+S or AT3 or maybe the Falken WildPeak.

Not to take this thread too far off the rails, but I want to give my $0.02 on the Falken Wild Peaks. I put them on my previous pickup and while they looked great, wore really well, and were quiet, they were terrible in wet/icy/snowy conditions. They didn't have nearly enough siping... However, these were purchased circa 2013 and were the Wild Peak A/T model... It looks like those are NLA and now they've changed and are offering the Wild Peak A/T3W. These have quite a bit different tread pattern with a lot more siping, so perhaps they perform much better in slick conditions...

Thank you both and pardon the hijack

@FordFascist were you running 2.0 or 2.5 coilovers on this truck? Thanks.
