Beno sent me a 90*, I have it and can install in there....when you say top hose are you talking about the one out of the top of the heater valve? I can replace that ........

I am truly flying by the seat of my pants. I appreciate the help.

I think one of the cables will reach my new valve.

Assuming they don't.....are there longer cables for another application I should look for?

The heater valve is mounted in the stock-ish location, so a 'warm' cable from a later model should be able to reach. They rarely fail, so finding a good used cable should not be difficult.

Spent an hour this AM coming up with a strategy for the rear crossmember. It has to be unbolt able so it's a bit harder than something I can do here.

I'm going to head by @metalshaper Monday and buy some scrap for the job. I also think my tranny hump is ready.

I then got my manifold and header on. The manifold needed some grinding and there were no studs here. Turns out hub studs are correct.

Well, that would be correct if the one on the front was not bored out and retreaded. Ugh. s***.

Im going to put a bolt in it and I'll have to drill out the carb base.

Looks great. Except I don't have a spacer and I don't have gaskets.

s***. I guess I will check with Trollhole on Monday see if he sells them.

I'm not crazy about how the studs and the nuts are on this setup. The manifold was machined a bit too much and it's not quite as thick as the header but the Ramflex is super thick so I'm
Hoping for the best here.

@FJ40Jim , thanks for the tip on the 90* on the heater hose.

My heater core lined up nicely inside. I test fit it all to see if I needed 90s but straight line worked.

One of the unused cables matched up with the heater valve. It's super hard to operate so I may just be popping the good old school to engage the heater.

Questions....

1)what size hose is the PCV and which port on the manifold?

2) What size fuel line goes from the fuel pump to tank and return? I thought it was 3/8" because that is what goes on the fuel pump but at the tank the bung for return is much bigger.

I also need the threaded dealio on the side of the OEM tank to press hose to.

All fuel lines are 8mm / 5/16".
Some vent lines are 6mm / 1/4"
PCV hose is 10mm, which is a very snug 3/8" oilproof hose (PS return hose).

Finding the threaded dealio on the tank could be a challenge.

The 3 arms coming off my fuel pump are all the same size. The one that heads forward and up to the hard line and carburetor is 5/16" it seems.

It is the tank end that doesn't look 5/16. The Bung that is welded in is much bigger. I assume I just step it up with and adapter.

JT....is that screw in piece an odd ball?

The threaded fitting on early gas tank is the same M13 as the fuel pump, carb, air rail, etc. Get one of the line nuts, a piece of 5/16 tube and 5/16 compression sleeve. Thread it on there w/ 1" of tube sticking out, instant hose barb.

Ordered a spacer plate, a used fuel line, 2 defrost hoses and the fitting for the fuel tank last night from SOR.

Brutal. But they had it and no one else would answer me. I think I'm slowly getting fired by all I've been leaning on

This vent hose by the filler. I'm assuming I can use it for return?

The side port on the tank. Does it have a tube that goes to the bottom of the tank for pickup?

Which way does the plug on the sending unit face when the float is in the tank properly?

I'm gonna get a nice little OEM piece for this filler hose.

What year is the tank? Does it have a second fuel fitting under the bottom seam, i.e. 73-newer configuration?

It does not. Only that vent hose over by the fill

OK, then the fuel suction is the fitting on the side of the tank. It does have a straw inside that goes down to the lowest part of the tank.

Fuel return can be teed into the fill neck vent hose, though it's not pretty since the fill vent is 14mm which has to come from a foreign car parts specialty store. The tee that can be built with commonly available brass fittings will be 1/2 by 1/2 by 3/8 barbs, so the wrong size for everything.
A more graceful solution is to solder or braze in a 5/16 tube, or a 1/8"NPT nut to accept a 5/16 x1/8NPT barb. If the local lowes doesn't have a 5/16 barb (they won't), it can be ordered from mcmaster.

Thanks Jim. I was just going to go direct into that vent. Glad to know I need to T it and still use the vent which makes total sense. Otherwise it would not have a vent.

Did the early F motor have a non return fuel system?

My PCV vent off my manifold is a 14 mm to I think. The 3/8" hose you recommended barely got on the PCV valve but I couldn't get it on the manifold.

Debating sourcing a new bung or heating up the hose.

The tread on this thing is likely impossible to find anywhere local though.

The big-arse hose off the rear manifold runner goes to the booster or vac t-case. No, PCV hose wont fit there.

PCV needs to connect to the center of the manifold so all cylindrs are equally exposed to the air and oil from the PCV valve. Connect pcv to the pipe in the spacer block under carb.

Had an hour today. Cleaned up the tranny hump. About to cut the holes this weekend.

I really would love it if someone with patience was going to be around.
