I got the tranny hump in today. I jacked up the transmission side a bit but the cover will cover it.

The Tcase side was great. That is the "Unobtanium" under boot for the transfer case. @Racer65 makes great stuff.

Yeah. Me too. I wish I had not painted the floorboards when I did. Once the seats get in the black will disappear. The passenger seat is a monster.

Today.

Crossmember goes in. The brakes are getting bled. Ole Patina will be mobile.

My SOR part box did not show up so I'm not going to be able to finish the engine bay.

I still need to make a clutch hard line. I've got a flare kit so I guess I go to Auto Parts place and get the longest piece of hard line they have.

I wish I could find a used one and be done with it.

Are these fittings 8mm? What size line to I get?

Big thanks to @euclid for helping me with the brakes today. Not bench bleeding the master was an issue and we had a couple junctions that were leaking that I was able to piece a fix for.

Brakes are so tight the fronts are dragging now. I think the throw for the rod into the master is too long and it is slightly engaged. I took all the slack out of the rod and it's still hard to turn the front tires.

I'm going to take the master off the firewall and see if that fixes it. If so, I'll take some length off the piston rod.

Rears bled out nicely but the Pistons won't adjust when we turn the adjuster rings. They just spin and nothing seems to be happening to preload the rear Pistons. Odd.

Oh well. Gotta quit for the day.

Crossmember is in. Brakes are bled. Two huge checks off the list.

Thanks Beno.

Brakes. I pulled the master off the firewall and the brakes released.

I took the shaft and cut 1/2" off and reinstalled.

Brakes are good. I still have some air. The passenger rear still needs adjusting. Driver rear locks up after pump.

Close.

I drained the tranny and transfer. Transfer was dry but the Tranny has about 1/3 cup of water in it.

I found a 5 gallon bucket of 85/140 wt I vaguely remembered buying so I put the pump on it and cycled about a gallon through it to flush most of the water then filled up the tranny and Tcase with the 85/140 to make my initial runs with since I already had it and would be draining it soon.

Well, that was until I remembered that that 5 gallons of 140 wt was really just where I have dumped all my waste oil recently.

#^%^%%{> I am the worst mechanic.

Drained all that s*** out.

I'll get another 5 gallons of 90wt tomorrow.

I also removed my shifter with it in reverse which prompted a couple text to some Cruiser gurus as to WTF my transmission was locked up.

@Texican bailed me out. Told me my reverse was engaged and I was installing the shifter in the neutral position.

Ugh.

I cut a bit more off my tranny hump and got the boots mounted.

I bought a cool 2" receiver off Mud. It's been rusting in the yard for a few weeks so it looks good. Gotta have poser pics with the 416 ......

Also I got a pimp HD battery line set off Mud and got it mocked up.

After much deliberation I am going to try to run the fuel system as the tank is designed without a return.

If I get vapor lock I will T in the return. For now it is capped off.

Reminds me of our first encounter........you jumping on Jeff Jones on the old LSLC list because an 80 rear locker wasn't a bolt in.........in the front of an FJ40

That's funny.

Holy s***. The hardest way to find out that there are 3 different 3rd member housing patterns in the front of a an 80 is to be trying to make one work .....

I forgot about that and I also refuse to think I could go all Texican on JJ.....

Aparently. It's a vague memory and I don't remember particularly showing my ass on the LCML about it, but the short story is I bought an 8" Elocker and tried to install it in my 1996 80 series and the stud pattern on my housing was different than that on the 3rd.

Long time ago. I don't deny it. I was even a bigger Internet a****** back then.

That's funny right there...... Texican called your ass out on going all ballistic on my friend though.......over the years I've called some guys out for going off on my friend, Nolen.......
[QUOTE="wngrog, post: 10545285

Nolen asked if it would work, on our list, Jeff Jones said he heard of folks doing it...... Based on this Midget orders one......when it ain't a bolt in, he gets on our list and rips JJ a new one. JJ ain't gonna go off on him in kind, so I did.

Hahahaha.....remind me, did we have a Lone Star specific mailing list? I never really broke into that old Land Cruiser Mailing List. It was brutal. I think that is when I was using CCOT forum mainly.
