OK, so I got all of the fittings from Ventura Hose Man today, and my 2.5 gallon tank and pressure switch are sitting at home waiting for install!

Parts!!!

So I got everything rounded up... the only thing I'm waiting for now is Lumpdog's bracket! Hurry up!!!! ;p

Assembled manifold (with gauge, pressure switch (w/ relay), and front disconnect), intake filter, Kilby flange to 1/2 NPT adaptors, various adaptors, braided steel hi temp airline, various fittings. Sources for all this (I will compile a complete price/source list later): Ventura Hose Man, McMaster-Carr, Kilby Enterprizes, and 4WheelParts.

looking good!

yeah there is one there... I'm gonna put it between the braided line and regular line inline to the tank.

Assembled compressor:

Kilby Enterprises York Flange -> 1/2" NPT Male

I'm starting to gather parts for doing a similar on board air system and I'm wondering what's so special about the Kilby flanges?--seems like a lot of money for two little flanges...

Lumpdogs setup, seen here, doesn't appear to use the Kilby flanges... Can some one enlighten me here?

Thanks,

I can't remember the PN's but NAPA has york swivel flanges with various sized hose barb ends for sale on the cheap. Just ask them to look it up in the parts catalog, there is a picture of it. It is near the actual york compressors.

damn those bastards... I went in there and they played stupid. "huh? a york? that must be one of them silly Swedish parts"

My local napa found the York stuff pretty easily... Ask for the Climate Control catalog.

I didn't buy a new unit w/ warranty because I've never seen a junkyard unit that didn't work or ever quit working.

I've picked up a couple junkyard yorks and just swapped flanges around to find something that worked. For the intake I usually just cut off the crimped on hose and slip something on. Doesn't need to be perfect.

Flanges would be easy to machine out of a block of aluminum, you could probably do it with just a decent drill press.

Tell them it was part of the 70's and 80's AMC/Volvo climate control. They'll probably suddenly be able to come up with the page with the york compressors. A few pages further are the pulleys, flanges, etc.

I used the factory flange adapters. They were to JIC (AN). Then I just used JIC fittings to adapt the filter.

Phil, you may need to put a 45 on the intake filter for hood clearance. Also, with my bracket, you need to use a flanged head York for hood clearance.

Is the York in Appletech's pics above a flange head? I don't know how to tell the differences (but I do want one of your brackets ;))

my aparrently overpriced kilby adaptors are the same height as the original flange connectors so I should be good clearance wise. point taken on the intake filter...

Damn it!!! I wonder what Kilby's return policy is???

I have something similar to 202113. I think it does not have the fill port on the rear though. It did come with gaskets

I don't know crap about hoses and hose fittings. Looking at part #202113 in the above image, what the heck size is No. 8?--is that a standard hose size? Does it fit 1/2" or 3/8" hose that lumpdog talks about in his write up? What would be the better flange to use out of the 202113, 202111, or 202136? I'm looking to run the setup pretty much identical to Appletechs and/or Lumpdogs. Any suggestions or pointers? I'm looking for simplistic quality here.

There's a rib in the hood that interfered with his original flang mounts (but i think his belt is a little longer than it neede to be). We took it off & he cut & welded the service port & it fixed the problem. I would think the 202111 or 202113 would clearance alright but wait for lumpdog to back me up on this. His factory one was simular to the 202172 with the valve built in.

We got together yesterday & figured out the JIC (or AN for militare folks) sizing. It goes by 1/16ths of an inch for the inside diameter of the hose. So a JIC4 is 4/16ths or 1/4 inch. I think his york and my sanden would be somewhere between a JIC8 (1/2) and JIC 12 (3/4). I can measure it tomarrow if anyone wants the actual size.

My unit is 9.5" tall from the bottom to the flat top of my flange adapter. I plan on putting it as low in the bracket as possible and getting a belt that is just right there, then tightening from there. Think I will be OK?
