nice sig btw

The last few days I have spent sanding and preping the remainder of the large body parts that need to be painted along with all the endless smaller parts that need paint.......... needless to say I am ready for the paint and body work to be over with!

But I did want to post up with what may be the most exciting prospect of this build; for the first time in my many years of 40 owner ship I may actually have a functioning parking brake :bounce::bounce2: used the FJ62 handbrake and fab'ed it up like the post '79 40's with the parking brake on the tranny hump......to work in cooridination with my 40/62 hybrid axle.

Prob. won't have anymore updates until the first of next week as I am actually headed out of town tomorrow to do some wheeling for the first time in about a year :o

Dang !!!!!! Thats some fantastic work Brother, and the fact your doing it in your driveway outside ROCKS thats about as old school as you can get. Really the paint look awsome and I dig the rear axle set up. I am thinking about doing the same thing with the LV running a 4 speed split tranny. Please post up if you need anything

Good Man...use of the "may" word. Very wise. A true and faithful Cruiserhead.
May she show second gear stall no fear, may she hold her own
on any slope, render any aid if needed, and may the rear main be kind.
Ohm...cruiser,cruiser,cruiser...Ohm

Well I can't let this thread slip below the first page.......... so time for an update.

Not a whole lot exciting going on as of late especially with spring break trips cutting into my wrenching time. None the less I still have been spending all my free time trying to wrap this thing up. I am still in the painting stage of the build :bang: it is amazing how many little pieces and parts there are to strip, prime, and paint on such a basic utilitarian vehicle:o Out side of painting I had to finish up to finish fabing up my parking brake set-up and also adapt the FJ40 gas tank to except an FJ62 eletric fuel pump.......

The plan is to finish up the majority of the painting this week and hopefully begin this Friday on getting this baby to run :bounce::bounce2:

time for some pics!

Looking good. You will love the e-brake....

edit: Damn I want one. Much less w/ the drivetrain that is in yours. And a completely rust free 62 tall pillar tub on top of it all.

If it were just as easy as it looks in the pictures.....

Thanks for the kind words Michael......... I am just hoping my limited eletrical skills can get the EFI wiring worked out so I can get this thing up and running. If not I will be knocking on your door :grinpimp:

JP are you still alive? I called on Friday and still no updates here.

I am alive, sorry I didn't return your call went out of town this past weekend and left my phone behind; so I didn't get your message until yesterday

POS is somewhat in limbo at the moment.... I have been out of town a lot lately ( have richard's wedding in VA this coming weekend :D), but more importantly I ran out of paint and didn't have the funds to buy more. Luckly I just sold a load of FJ62 body parts and now with some cash in my cruiser fund I will be finishing up my painting starting next week. Then all I have to do is get the ole 3FE to fire up and I will be back in business:grinpimp:!!!

So upadates will be coming in the very near future and I am optimistic I will have this thing wrapped up in a couple of weeks:cheers:

You should have been driving it up to VA for this weekend man. Katie and I were ready to roll up to the reception in that sweet red 40.

SWEEET! Congrats!

Awesome! Glad you got it running. Between yours, Marshall's and mine, this year looks to be the year of the "finished 40 project".

Anyone else have a 40 that they expect to be complete soon?

We'll have to line them all up for a photo at a meetup later this year. It's funny how all 3 have different yet far from stock engines them. 3FE, 2F-TBI (all gayed up), and an abomination with a SBC.
