That really looks way to good for JP to have done it. Are you paying someone and just claiming their hard work? :flipoff2:

Thanks for all the compliments gents..... she's not perfect but I think she will look fine from 5 feet, and that is all I can ask for a trail truck.

I had to partake in the St. Patty's day celebration last night since I am sure I must have some Irish heritage some where :grinpimp: and thus didn't accomplish anything more than a hangover this morning

I will be stripping down the paint tonight and begining the process of rust prevention on the inside and outside of the tub with the goal of laying down the first coat of T332 Seminole red this weekend

Wanted to let you guys know I am headed out the door to Florence to pic up my lastest 1962 FJ40....... and check out some of OCD's soft tops in person as hopefully Project Old Skool will be wearing one before to long

Hopefully after the weekend I will be able to post up my freshly painted 40 and my new rusty addition to the heard:cheers:

Well.... I don't have much to say other than I HATE BODY WORK; I am a couple of days behind schedule now but will be wrapping up the last of the body work tonight. Most likely primer will go down Friday night and the Seminle Red on Saturday.

Yeah right.

So how did my top look?

I wasn't allowed in to Jim's secret lab............ :grinpimp:

but a little birdie told me you won't have to wait much longer:cheers:

I am starting to think you all are holding out on all the good finds back there :hhmm: I am gussing that everything is stashed behind the house ? That way we cant check out your real inventory in the pictures :bounce: Cant wait to see the painted pictures

Damn JP...that is coming along great! Always good to see an old beast brought back to life.
I'm impressed...and that ain't an easy thing to do.
:grinpimp:

Thanks David!!! I just can't wait to be driving a 40 again on a regular basis.... it has been since 07 when I sold my red 40 to pruchase the wife's engagement ring that I have a truly DD worthy 40 :o

Hope to see you and Gundy soon:cheers:

Hehe..... all the good stuff is stashed out in the country at my sisters barn :grinpimp:

I can't wait to see the paint on the old girl either. I have learned I much more enjoy mechanical work than body work :bang:

until then I just keep looking at Destins work and it gives me hope :D

Don't have much time for details now but I did want to post up that I finally laid down some seminole red....... turned out just fine for what is going to be my camping/ wheeling truck. If it was too pretty I couldn't have any fun with it :grinpimp:

Wow JP your making some great progress! I've been getting motivated to do some work to my wagon here lately, we shall see what pans out. (It's a '63) ;)

That looks really good.
I hope I have inspired you to lay down some of that beautiful CLEMSON oragne that you have waiting to go on :grinpimp:

Thanks Matt! I'd love to see a hotrod thread here in the Upsate forum

Nice work JP. I'm always envious of those who say "got a little work done today" which = painted and mounted a tub, rebuilt a motor, etc.. :D

don't be envious every free moment I have had for the last month has been spent on the project and while it was fun at first now I am just running on fumes trying to finish up before the wife kills me (my building permit on my home edidtion expires May 15 so I have been banned from working on the 40 anymore on the weekend.... it is a week night only show now  )

Looking good man, you're probably lucky the wife didn't ban you weeks ago since you have been doing that addition for a year now.

Another quick update as I am short on time again today........

Got my rear axle installed which is a 40/62 hybrid; I installed the drums from the FJ62 axle on to the 40 axle. This did require a good bit of frabrication but on the plus side I did gain a functioning barking brake and self-adjusting drums :D. Don't know if I would go this route again but it was my cheapest option at the time since the rear 40 axle I had was missing all the braking components. We will see how it works when I finally get it on the road.

Also started work on the rest of the body parts to be painted take note of all the little wholes I had to weld up in the tranny hump. I have no idea what the PO had attached all over it:confused:

And check out the pics of my lastest 1962 Fj40......... she is a little rusty ;)
