So I’ve been posting in the “What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week” thread, but I figured, why not start a build thread.

This is a 10/72, 73 model year that I picked up on Craigslist about a year ago. The posted pictures made it look like a beater, but it was just baked in the Arizona sun for too many years. Could be Capri or Horizontal Blue, who knows...

Once it was picked up and washed.

After picking it up, disassembly began. Pulled out the added roll cage, removed the bolted in back bench seat, and pulled out the all-weather carpet with massive amounts of dried glue throughout the tub. Pulled the PO’s wiring for Fog lights, CB, and whatever else.

Finally added OEM rims and BFG KO2’s to get a roller that actually looked good.

General clean up. Added a nicer steering wheel and rear license plate light.

Most recently, I’ve been using rust converter on the driver and passenger side floors and then re-spraying to make it look better than straight surface rust. The exterior will be kept patina, a la @wngrog

Here’s the current state. Today I installed a new clutch master since the old one was leaking down the firewall. New regulator, fuse box, and went through the wiring. Other misc additions.

Front bucket seats have been recovered in CruiserCorps Coral seat covers and I picked up long jump seats from @Ben edwards.

For those who know. Also Picked up a second light this weekend to make one that is functional. The glass lenses and chrome surround are pretty much usually trash.

Also picked up a Warn 8274 for Old Blue. Still trying to decide on a bumper to mount it to.

Good score on the light. I have a 4plus bumper for the 8274. One with a reverse rake (facing forward). Love it.

T-310 Capri Blue was until 1970?
So it should be T-808 Horizontal Blue (up to 1974)

I know what the fact sheets say, looking at the original paint that was under the dash pad, it looks more Capri than Horizontal. Who really knows? It was before Toyota put the paint code on the plate.

I’ve got a great bumper for it if you decide you don’t want that dirty old thing cluttering up your rig! 🤣

@Racer65 cowl drain hoses and OEM grommets installed the other day. Passenger side was 10x easier than the drivers side. Can’t imagine trying this with the heater installed! Plus adding some lubrication to hose helped with getting it through the dry grommet. 🤭

Nice work on a sweet old truck!

Kind of a side topic, but are any of the white spoke rims that are in the first photo in your first post Jackmans? That front left one looks like an original Jackman. I'd love to have a set of those.

@Rigger, thanks for the comments.. and honestly I don't know what rims were on there?

I guess it’s the little things. Found a grommet plug for the Vadar light hole and found some switch blank plugs for the dash, previous owner among other things cut out some rectangle holes for his badass light rocker switches. Now, I’m hoping to find a pre-72 lower dash pad to block off the radio and CB cutout.

Also received the SST to pull the shifter out of the 3spd tranny.
