Hope this answers all you questions…

The tank is from a S10 Blazer and it is basically the same thing as an aux tank. It only cost $25 with the sending unit. The tank does not set directly over the rear axle. Its close but, I still have plenty of suspension travel. I did a SOA witch increase the distance. I would not recommend this mod to SUA FJs.

Days 20-33

Next I did a SOA and disk brake upgrade to the rear axle. I used a SOA kit from Ruff Stuff, the front calipers off the IROC, and Chevy rotors (cut to 4.20 in.) with Poser’s brackets.

The front was a similar upgrade as well. I did a SOA with a C&T with about 5* of caster. The brakes were the standard Toyota upgrade from a 79-85 solid front axle and calipers and rotors off a 91 4runner. I also cleaned them up with a little paint. Next I added all new tabs and mounts, replaced all the seals, bearings, and gaskets to both front and rear axles.

Picture upload

FYI, Pictures can be uploaded to www.tinypic.com then copy the message board link in the resulting upload to your post. You may have to use the microsoft picture sizer to get the picture down to size. I usually downsize the photo to "large email" via microsoft picture manager then upload to "tinypic" and then post.
You can post as many pictures as you want then.

Days 34-40

I had to cut out the factory cross member to make room the new position of the transfer case. So I decided to make a new one with an added traction bar.

I also fab up some shackles. Originally I bought a few set and was sad to say they were all junk so I decided to make my own.

Day 41

Completely disassembled everything, prepped it, and sent it to the media blaster. Over the next few days while everything was getting blasted I created a spray booth and started to freshen up the engine.

Paint Booth

I used an old 10 X 20 car port, sealed it air tight with 6mm plastic and a cardboard floor. Plastic construction zippers were used for a door and I installed two fans with filters to create a cross flow. Then installed six florescent lights and ran power and air lines. Next I created two, 6 foot “A” frames so I could suspend the frame and parts when painting.

Days 42-43

Picked up some paint supplies and got the frame back from the media blaster. Time to lay down some color (2 coats primer and 2 coats of single stage satin black). It came out way better than I thought it would.

Your skills frighten me... as does the time you have available to work on this... I am supremely jealous... and supremely interested to watch your progress - it's inspiring.

Yepper, and jealous at the amount of shop space!!! All I have is an open faced barn to work in, but I have a cement slab to be on thankfully!!!! Nice progress, looking forward to seeing it finished!!

I got the rest of the large parts back from the media blaster and blasted the smaller ones myself. Then laid down some primer (2 coats) and then color (2 coats).

Days 45-48

I tackled the engine next by disassembled everything, checked everything, cleaned, and put a few fresh coats of primer and paint. Then I replaced all the seals, cap, spark plugs, wires, valve covers, timing cover, and oil pan. I had pound out a bunch a dents on the runners and grind them smooth. Next I added a set of hugger headers and reassembled. Almost looks brand new now.

Day 51

I order all new hardware from The Nutty Company and sent it out to the local plating shop. Got everything cadmium plated and then spent 8 hours sorting everything. What a PITA!!! I put together an Excel spread sheet of all the hardware I order with prices if anybody wants it.
