I have to say, I was very sad that you were modifying such a nice survivor-especially a '74 California model....but I admit that you did it justice and then some; fantastic job.

i looked through the thread and didn't see you mention about the steering colomn, looks like a ididit, what length did you use?

This thread needs a video to cap it off. I would probably break into tears if I saw your truck on the street.

It’s been some time since my last post and believe it or not progress has still progressed. As you can guess I finally got to spend some time enjoying my FJ on the road. I have put a few hundred miles on it and worked out a lot of the kinks. Truth be told its been more fun than ever expected.

Over the next few weeks I will be updating my thread and bringing you guys up to speed.

Thank you guys for all your support!

Day 202

I ended up modifying my fog lights to be LED DRLs, I removed the inner shield and replaced the bulb with a much larger/brighter LED bulb. Then I applied some blue Xpel on them for tint and durability. The 1st picture shows before and after, the one on the left has been modified and the one on the right is stock with Xpel.

Day 203

I had to change my exhaust setup, it was sucking fumes back into the cab at pretty high rate. A few of you guys suggested moving the tips outward so they are pointing to the passenger and driver sides to reduce this. I decided to give this a try and see what happens.

I cut the old tips off and rerouted them towards the sides. After I tacked everything up I finished welded everything and ground them down flat. Next I added a few coats of high temp primer / paint and reassembled it back on my rig.

What a difference, I can breathe much better now!

Day 204

I needed some temporary tunes for spring so installed a deck + 2. I installed an antenna under the dash, 2 6X9s behind the seats and media player up in the dash. This should get me by for a few weeks until the remainder of the sound system components arrive and are being finished fabricated. More coming soon on this topic!

Day 205

After driving around for long periods of time during hot days I noticed that master cylinder gets extremely hot form the heat of the header. I was worried about melting the seals and or cavitation in brake fluid. I decided to fabricate a small aluminum bolt on heat shield to prevent any problems.
