Day 52a

I reassembled the front and rear leaf springs with new hardware and bushings. I added a leaf to the rear leaf springs to help with the planned extra weight (gas tank and 36 inch spare tire). I used an addition set of factory springs for the add a leaf. I cut them as long as possible, hopefully this wont hurt ride quality too much. Then put everything back together on the frame using new grease-able spring pins and bolts, and the shackles I made.

Day 52b

I didn’t want any metal to metal contact so I cut out some rubber mounting plates. These plates were used to go between the leaf springs and the spring perches and the top plates and the leaf springs. Then I put it all back together with new hardware.

Day 54

It’s been a few months since I had time to work on my project. I finally got back to work on it.

I installed the front and rear modified factory brake lines and the refinished hardware on the axles. Then I reassembled the engine to the reconditioned drive train. Next I added a couple of chrome pans, some fresh paint and new hardware. I almost have a rolling chassis!

Looking good!

Dang, this is looking sweet! I am so jealous, keep the pix coming!

That's just too clean... and I mean that in a bad way... you are clearly OCD! How will you ever bring yourself to drive this truck? .... it's gonna get DIRTY!:whoops:

Unreal, well done! I may have missed it, but what have you used to coat your frame? Great contrast with the aluminum, bolts and the flat black.

Enjoy!
