I had my new Cat installed yesterday!
Drove her around today for a couple hours to get it hot and ready for her second attempt at smog.
The 60 passed!
Finally got it smogged and registered with new black plates.

Wow to those fuel pickup lines... dry crust wicked. Mine aren’t too far from that tho they’re covered in a thick oil coating thatcwas done at one time to the underside of the truck. I don’t dare pick at it. I’m sure I’ll need to address at some point.
Hey and the straps that hold the fuel tank... what is that? Metal? Can you indudge me in some info since you were up close and personal w/ them?
Also simply curious cuz I read no conclusion to the no idle issue, was your egr bad or did you still have sediment in the carb from the filthy filter? And man was that filthy! Amazing!

Replaced drivers side motor mount and 2 out 3 exhaust isolators ( nompics on Isolators)

Is that broken? I’m sorta in that area trying to shift my engine up by loosening my front mounts. Such an interesting combo of metal and rubber. I remember reading a thread a long time ago about broken mounts so as I jack up the nose of the engine I’m eyeballing the mounts and luckily so far both look equal in shape.

Hi,
Yes the straps are metal. As far as the no idle issue. Combo of things the sediment in the fuel filter. And tank.
And some sediment that got in the float bowl. Had to remove top half of carb to get that cleaned out. After I had already had the carb rebuilt. All is good now! She is running Great!

You can test it by pulling on your e brake and simple try to move the truck slowly as the engine torques you will hear the fan scrap the shroud.
I will do the passenger side next. Just to make it even. Even though it don’t need it.

Great job on all the work you do on your rig and how you jump in and just do it!!

Well it bothering me that I replaced everything clutch related other than the clutch master cyclinder.
So I got one so it can be complete!

So was getting the truck ready for a camping trip. She dicided to leak radiator fluid one day before leaving.
I thought at first it was the Pink BVSV but turned out to be leaking at the housing. Removed it and found I had installed a FJ 62 gasket. I Didn’t have an extra gasket for an FJ60 so I made one out Estrella beer holder. Added some Toyota sealant and we where back on the road again no more leak.

Did a 400 mile round trip to Reedly CA for some river caming.
Dusty did amazing! Only trouble we had was that the tranny started leaking gear oil all over the place. Looks like the front input shaft sealant gasket are bad!
Stopped a jiffy lube to have it topped off other wise no problems.
The clutch fan stayed locked the whole trip so fuel mileage was bad. Have a new Toyota clutch fan waiting to be installed.
Climbing the Grapevine was a bit nerve racking but it was “slow and steady climb.
She hit 230,000 miles on the clock coming home.
Overall Dusty did great!

So been working on pesky anti freeze leak I have had on my Cruiser.
Thought it was the housing to block gasket which I made form a beer box! But after more inspecting and driving it turned out to be my pink BVSV. So I removed it and put some Toyota Gasket sealer on it. As I did that and was installing I pressed on a nipple and it broke off! I was frantic and knew the where NLA. So I scoured MUD and I came a across a member who happened to have one brand new in the bag. He want going to need it do to him de smoging his rig. I felt lucky I found it paid him immediately and he sent it off. That was a week ago!
Finally today it arrives from NJ and I install it and replaced the gaskets with Toyota gaskets. Even though the Estrella beer one worked flawlessly. So now my rig is up and running! And no leak!
I have said it before and will continue too say this forum is awesome!.
Now I am back on the road up and running.
Cheers

Well I finally decided to pull the trigger on replacing the power steering pump.
Been putting it off and lately it has been slowly leaking so I just installed a fresh new PS pump.

Now chasing a pesky radiator coolant leak! At firsts it was the pink BVSV got that taken care of. THen it started leaking at the top of water pump.
I read up on a thread that some past member had the same leak.
Turn out it was the three rear screws on the back plate of the WP.
So I took it apart and put some FIPG and clamped it down to get a good seal.
While I wait for a WP gasket from my local dealer that comes in tomorrow.

Well finally got to install the new passenger side motor mount. After moving it around the garage so many times. And while I had to remove the A/C pump to get to the bolt. I decided to change out the seals on all the lines to accept 134 Freon.
I did the engine bay ones and the front condenser lines. Also did one side of the ac pump. I have one Allen bolt head hay rounded out trying to loosing it. So gotta try somehow removing it. Need to add the new ester oil to the pump. Also just need to get to the inside AC box! And do those also.
I’m close to having a working A/C
