I hope I get that inspector for the diesel 🤣

3/4 of my vehicles right now are riding dirty with expired safety, every time I show up to my local spot the inspector hasn’t showed up for the day or is “out to lunch”.

I think enforcement has been pretty lenient during Covid anyways.
Just got a ticket for expired safety that I was able to get dismissed by getting an inspection. They're still issuing them

New OE light cover... it was missing ... oh and 4.5 quarts of fresh 10w40 today!

Man... that reminds me of how great it is to have right angle tools. Back when I had my 85 pickup the exhaust bolts were stripped out of the head. I used a right angle drill and helicoils to put a header on and it never budged.

Well... my charge light has been off, but she just died in my driveway. I noticed a sluggish start... so I got the multimeter out and was only getting 11.something at + and - terminals.... then I turned her off and was getting 12 volts at terminals... weird. Now she won’t start. Paging @emorth

Do belts sometimes have different teeth? I’m replacing belts and the length/ with is the same but the teeth are different? I’ve never noticed this. ... I mean it’s the same belt # 9350.... but there are some other rando numbers?

Replaced heater valve. Old one was definitely seized... the blue cable is seized too, that is on order but at least I can operate this by hand when needed....

Also installed new alternator from Toyota (and got spare brushes). Everything seems to be working fine. Not as much voltage as the other unit, but everything seems fine. The old alternator had a loose regulator assembly which could have been the source of my issue.

Keep an eye on that battery... check the charge in the mornings before staring to see what voltage you are starting at.

What is that piece between the frame rail a body where it tapers off towards the rear? This seems like a large gap to me, but none of the bushings indicate any kind of body lift?

Asking because I need to specific if there is any body lift for rear bumper, I just went to double check.... I peeked under the splash liner and thought that gap was something to warrant snooping around.

That’s normal. No body lift.

Installed the SSO Slimline bumper and winch on the 4Runner with help from Ed and Patrick. Pics to prove it.

Thanks guys!

Thanks, I'm pleased with how it came out, despite all my unforced errors. It was a very long day. Had to wait until Sunday to mount the fairlead and license plate due to me misplacing the hardware for the fairlead, and measuring the wrong license plate template about 11 times before drilling and tapping the holes for the plate mount. I shouldn't have been lazy and taken my measurements off a Cool Cruisers license plate frame, but should have instead used the actual plate and frame.
