My son's 2005 had been having trouble starting, so replaced the starter relay. Then started stalling. Found one of the prongs on the Main relay was brown, looked like a short or something. Replaced relay and everything fine for about 3 months. Started happening again and the same prong on the new relay had similar brown appearance. What could be causing this to happen to the main relay? Short? Surge? Where do I begin looking? Any good electrical mechanics in Annapolis area?? Thanks...

I’m on the tail end of some electrical issues as well. Having read so many posts about how they start, it’s usually because of some sort of water intrusion. I had water coming in from a pinched windshield seal and slowly leaking into the passenger side behind the glovebox. It’s been a nightmare figuring out all the wiring that goes on behind there.

Another place water can leak from is the sunroof drains on either the driver or passenger side. What’ll happen is the drains gets clogged and water spills out from the drain hoses onto the fuse blocks in the driver and/or passenger footwell.

Water can also come in because of a bad windshield install where the installer didn’t use the proper grommets to put the windshield trim in place. Apparently what a lot of places do is use screws instead of the plastic grommets, which will cause water to start coming inside from the A pillars. I made sure mine were sealed up really well when I got a new windshield put in.

Hopefully that helps a little bit.
