Got my windows roped back in. Big shout out to Mike at Windshield City in Chantilly. He did it in about 15 minutes for both sides and didn't charge me for it either. He said to just let people know about his shop. So if you guys have any auto glass needs hit them up. They are in the shop Wednesdays and Fridays and mobile the rest of the week.

They do good work! Had them replace many windshields for me and my family

I got the BMW all buttoned up, but I've still got the rough idle, check engine light, and now... white smoke from the exhaust. I'm working the next 3 nights, but if I have time, I'm going to run the diagnostics and see what pops up, probably clear them and see what happens. I had the intake manifold off last night when I got hit with a sudden downpour, could the smoke just be the car burning off water?

Rough idle + white smoke = blown head gasket in my LX450...

What era and model Bimmer?
I don't recall having read about it before ^^^?

Does anyone have a spray can of the pewter paint used on the the 40? I bought a hand crank bracket for the bumper of my 40 but don't feel like paying Cruiser Corps $20 +shipping for about 10 seconds of spray paint.

Working on these 😁

I don't know how I could have blown it. It wasn't smoking before, and I haven't driven it in over a week.

It's a 2014 X3 with the N55 engine. I replaced the high pressure fuel pump, which requires removing the intake manifold. I'm hoping that some moisture just got in the block and it will burn off. I'll read the codes when I have time, I'm working nights all weekend though.

Is it always smoke or startup smoke?

Start it up again and let it run for a few minutes and watch the temp? It could be burning off moisture from the exhaust. My vmax used to do that after sitting for a few days. Not a LOT of smoke, though. And what does it smell like?

It started as a lot, but seemed to be dying off. I was just tired and needed to get some sleep, night shift sucks. I'll try to give it a few minutes to idle and see what happens. I might have time before work.

...and how much "smoke" I'm betting it's condensation/H20 vapor blowing off.
It started as a fair amount, but seemed to be tapering off. I've got a good code reader, hopefully I can reset the codes and be done. There may have been more issues from the start though. I may have to replace the charge pipe, spark plugs, and coils if the reset and burn off doesn't work.
