Oh, also just finished modifying a USB/cig lighter power distribution thingy that will connect to the cig lighter power extension that I added banana plugs to and clip to the vertical of the support pole of the RTT . This will provide power to my tent lights, charge my phone and run my cpap and heated throw, while keeping it up out of the way.
I don't know if I'll want to leave my tent...

Continuing to work on Jack’s 40 for Fall Crawl. The manifolds are at the machine shop and I’m waiting on some hardware from Specter...

@Stumpalama’s deep knowledge helped get the carb rebuilt...

And this afternoon we’ll be getting the 8274 mounted that @jcj_78FJ40 found...

Is it good enough to pass @emorth ?

I ripped the interior, steering column, and pedals out of my rig in preparation for rattle canning the firewall black, installing heat, reproduction floor mat, and a factory steering wheel.

It took me a few months, but I was able to score factory-correct grey seats and jump seats off EBay.

The end goal is to get the 40 mechanically sound and back to as original as possible before removing the body and painting it a period correct color.

A good thing about New Mexico is I don’t have to worry about rust.

A slightly different technique:

IMG_1585.jpg

Expose an extra length of wire. Easier to twist the wire.

IMG_1586.jpg

The extra length of wire makes it easier to form a tight wrap

IMG_1589.jpg

Cut off the excess wire and solder. Use a pair of pliers to crush any sharp edges so they don't penetrate the tape or shrink tube.

So solder before cutting the excess wire? I need to get a couple of those weighted wire holding clamps/stands you have. I hate trying to rig up the wire to hold it still with whatever junk is floating around my work bench.

I think you wrap, snip excess, solder, then snip again?

What’s the best way to splice into a line? I’ve been meaning to add a third brake light to my 62.

think I’m going with this one.

I built sliders for my Hzj73. I’m still learning how to weld and thought it would be a good way to get more practice. I’m using a Lincoln 140HD with 100% co2. I don’t have a garage/workshop (yet) so I’ve been workIng outside when weather is decent. I picked up a swag off-road finger brake and 20 ton HF press to help with a few bends. I’ll test it at fall crawl.

Be careful of them flexing up if you get the full weight on them. The ones I made for my 62 I used bolts too/bottom and they will flex up to my rockers a little. And it will test your welds for sure 😁 nice job on them

Thanks Burl! We’ll see how it holds up! :)
