Yes. I think at this point we've established that the pulley is on the proper way.

We have to go thru a process of elimination instead of taking guesses.

If you ask me, there are 3 possible issues but I really only see one possible culprit:
1) the pump
2) the bracket
3) the pulley ( I think this is the problem )

Please remove the pulley and post pics/ measurements of it. Pics of the pump and bracket would be a great idea as well.

Mike - I'm going to back out of this conversation, at this point.

Georg has always taken care of me and, believe me, I've asked some really stupid questions!

His word is his bond... he has your back... just follow his instructions and this will work out!

Calm down my friend - have a Dr Pepper - that always works for me!!

That's perfect!

I'll check tomorrow morning.

When I sold you the pump, there was no pulley on it. But I knew the pump and bracket came off an FJ60. I grabbed the pulley from my box of ps pulleys for the same setup. Maybe I had an oddball pulley in there?! I guess we'll find out tomorrow.....

Looks like we found the culprit.

Thanks for the pics!!!!

Here are some photos of the correct pulley.

Roma, Yours looks like the correct pulley for an FJ40, thanks for all the pics! I need a pulley just like yours.

Mike.
Please, send me another message with your full name and Ship-to addy. I'll get the proper pulley in the mail to you tomorriw. If you don't mind, please send the other one back once you're done with the ps conversion. I'd like to see it and figure out what it's from.

There's no difference between the pulleys for an FJ40 or an FJ60.

Thanks Georg will do. Please email me pics of the new pulley prior to shipping I'd like to see what it looks like. Once the correct pulley is installed on the pump there should be a distance of 1.75+ inches between the pulley and the pump reservoir as shown in pic of Danny's setup bellow.

Thanks again,
Mike

My guess is the wrong pull was a mini truck or something, much deeper step in the proper pull....

Stay Calm And Chive On........

Nice work solving the mystery guys..

Mike, could you please, send me a message with the proper Ship-to info?

Thanks!

Mike - Great to hear that you have found your issue.

FWIW - My $0.02 worth, take a look at Danny's, Erik's, and your upper radiator hose. I would suggest to get the same one as Danny's because it places the downward bend further away from the radiator, thus further away from the Crank/PS/Alt belt. Here have a look at all three below.

Danny's:

Erik's: (seems to be possibly installed backwards? But apparently works.)
