Our chase/fuel 70 series pickup hauling 1000 lits of diesel in the Sahara
Although it had a couple bad line choices it did extremely well
10 minutes into the dunes and Im in trouble in the brand new VDJ79 series

No worries the guy driving the 70 pickup has more miles in the dunes than 99.9% have off road and it showed.

Just came across this forum and looking forward to seeing what people have been doing with their 70s.
Thought I'd post a couple of mine in the mean time, fresh back from my latest trip.
She started off life as a petrol powered 1985 HJ75, however a couple of engine swaps later she now runs a turboed 6500 Optimizer. Shes had a bunch of other stuff done too, custom interior, water tanks, solar charging system, air compressor, lockers, etc.
Just came across this forum and looking forward to seeing what people have been doing with their 70s.

Very cool. What's a Turboed 6500 optimizer?
Its this one here The Optimizer 6500 - Engine Builder Magazine
Basically a slight redesign of A 90s 6.5L GM diesel. The re-design was intended for use in military Humvees. Very durable and easy to work on, extremely popular in the US, not so much elsewhere.

Went for a bit of a reci and fishing trip, up the Australian high country/Snowy Mountains.
Crossing the Murry River (a bit dirty, after rain), at Tom Groggin.
Lunch break at Dogmans Hut
Over the border, into Victoria.
Geehi area, camp set up
Keebles Hut (a bit popular- see caravan in background)
