Pig Party - 2017?

Have we decided on trial runs specifically staying on pavement/fire roads or rock runs/mud wheeling? There was some talk early on about some specific trail runs dependent on snow melt, has anyone looked into these trails for mid-June this year?

I don’t care what we do as a group and we are up for anything but I would like to pack accordingly without over packing for the long trip.

Thanks.

Hey All, some comments about climate and conditions we will likely face...

I got up this morning to go swim and checked the temp - 60 degrees in my part of CO. I got curious about what the temp was in Rico, the closest town to our campground - 40 degrees F. High today in Rico is forecast @ 71 degrees F, about 20 degrees cooler than my highs for the day.

Rico is at ~8800 feet above sea level. This can pose a challenge for folks coming from sea level, as altitude sickness can hit quickly, and make one feel pretty miserable w/ headache. At this altitude, as soon as the sun goes down, temps will drop quickly.

The average high temps for Rico in July is 70 degrees, and the average low is 33 degrees. This will make for some good sleeping, but please plan your clothing wisely - it will be cold when we are getting up. Bring lots of layers!

Also bring lots of water and water bottles. Drink lots of water as you climb in altitude to avoid feeling the effects of altitude sickness.

Thanks.

I have no idea what trails are in play around there. The pictures from @abqcruiser looked like there was plenty of nice options around there, hopefully he will chime in. I am not looking to tear anything up, so mellow is good for me.

It'll kill me to drive the wife's hundred if the 55 isn't ready, but that's plan B. :(

@J Mack gets very upset when Pig people take their wife's 100s instead of their Pigs! Just witness the chatter around last year's Cruise Moab...

Any plans for group meals (potluck style) that we should prepare for?

Any plans for a pig swap meet day?

Thanks.

I don't want to start a new thread on Pig Party Potluck, as that would get pretty chatty for such a technical section of the forum, but maybe we should do some menu planning?

What is our current head count?

I think I (and when I say "I", I really mean my :princess: can pull of some nice, tasty twice baked potatoes for the potluck.

What are other folks bringing?

I don't think I will have much room to bring things for a swap meet, but if we really want to do this in camp I can re-think things...

So the shirt idea is out. To much work to finish before I go. Im still not sure Redline will have my rig ready by then. can't risk making a bunch and not be able to go. if the truck is not done Im going with the forester and bring my MTB. I will still have some fun things to share.

I am having a hard time letting go of the event t-shirt.
If we can whip up a basic design, and agree on one color (preferably black), I can see if I can whip some up. Maybe just a real basic "Pig Party 2017 - Colorado" and a picture of a Pig?

If no one else cares, I will drop it, but I was really looking forward to shirts from our little event.

I made a batch of these shirts back in the day (2011), maybe the guy still has the design, maybe we could modify to reflect Pig Party 2017?

The shirts were off-white in color...

Pig T-Shirts Anyone?

I kind of agree with you here, let me know if I can help you with anything.

Darn straight, if I drive my junk 11 hours to an event so I can check out your beautiful pig and you’re sitting in the heated seat of your wife’s Lexus telling me you didn’t bring it I might mention my WTF moment down here in the sty.

Got any design ideas? If we get serious about the t-shirts, I am going to need everyone's sizes PDQ!

I am bringing Miss Javelina this time.

Who was talking about bringing a drone to take aerial photos of our gathering?

I can send you the boring Iron Pig Preservation Society shirt design with pig party 2017 added to it if that helps.

Better than nothing! Send it to me, I will call the guy that did my last batch of shirts and see if he can hammer them out.
What is your vote on color?

I’ll get it to you by the end of the day, PM me a good E-mail address.

I think a single natural color like tan, blue or white will work just fine with this short notice, I’m willing to send your guy money to just print a set amount of shirts and we can square up at the event if that helps kick this in the butt.

PM Sent.

I just got off the phone with my guy, he is pretty darn cool and willing to hustle for us.
He is recommending dye sublimation as it is quicker, but we are limited in terms of shirts we can use, also limited by what shirts he can access.

So I am going forego working on my Pig to bring him the Iron Pig shirt, so he can see the design and then pick out shirts. I am going to try to inventory everyone who has chimed in on sizes so far...

I'm also on the phone with my guy and he said he can knock it out for us.
I''l send you a PM in a bit so we don't ball up this thread but it sounds like we can get shirts.
