Great find, Great new home for a classic cruiser... Take care of both Roy's they are equally rare today.

Killer cruiser and story. Good on you for getting a pic of the real Roy too. Those guys are studs for sure. That guy probably "Clinks" when he walks from the brass balls.

Awesome find! Lots better shape than that one thats ratholed away in Bonham.

I'm really stoked for you Greg. I might have to consider returning to the 45 forum a little more often just to keep tabs on this one.;)

I saw that one over Thanks Giving weekend while in Texas... its a beauty...

Engine out, fenders and hood off. I cleared the firewall of all stuff. Plan is to sand blast firewall this week, prime and paint black. I'm also going to do the inner fenders. Once i get it cleaned and painted i will begin the process of cleaning and reassembling all the mechanical goodies on teh way back in. May even do the interior while i have it all apart.
ready for blaster.webp

You know....

that's how the frame offs ALWAYS start!:lol::lol:

Welcome to the madness...AGAIN!;)

No problem with the carb Greg; let me know whenever you're ready.

I Know...Im resiting the frame off.... just want to drive it a couple years before I tear it down....figure 2-3 year project if i do that.

Picking up a set of axles for Roy this weekend. out of a 76. I want 4 wheel disk... safe stopping is key for me. Want to keep the Red Head safe.

I have an old Carter carb on it now. Should be ready to look at options in March time frame.

Subscribed.

I screwed up one night and started a "winter project" thread. Beers n the internets can get complicated.

In an effort to be environmentaly conscious i will conserve bandwidth and use the new thread as my winter project thread..

this has been a public announcement.. :-)

Update, non tech related. Jen and i drove out to see Roy last weekend. "The" Roy, the fella i purchased the truck from. Roy turns 89 in a week so we thought it only fitting to drive the 45 up north for him to take a look at our progress. Roy was very pleased with the updates and cleaning that had been done. I think he was also surprised that we had not changed the paint. Roy still manages a 90 acre farm, so he is younger than his years, very healthy and active. He and Mrs Roy still live in the same farm house they have lived for 60 years. I handed him the keys and said "take it for a spin" at first he hesitated but with my prodding he jumped in.... he looked out the window and said " I may not come back!" and down the road he went.

Was a good day... very rewarding. after he got back with the truck my buddies 7 year old boy jumped in and said "can i buy your truck?"... and he was serious.... I told him, "start saving, when im 88 years old you can buy it...if ya promise not to sell it..."

Right at home in the fields. Roys next owner riding shot gun...

Next in line... Rolle...

Super cool Greg. There have been dozens of times I wish I could find the PO of either Ruftoys or the LWB to show them what I've done with them over the years. Connecting with people is 'where it's at.'

Mark A.

P.S. I'm thinking about driving to TX next year. Haven't been for three years now. Wadda ya say?

Oh man, i would need two weeks! that would be a fun adventure though.... Maybe Ill consider driving the LX down... Its been to long, thats a great trip.

Not to hijack, but speaking of connecting with po, I called on a 45 wagon a couple years ago, and talked to a guy who was selling it for his neighbor. We got to talking and he mentioned he used to have a 45 pickup! The more we talked the more I realized it was the guy I bought my 45 from, almost 20 years earlier! This cruiser world we live in is small indeed.
