I hesitate to call this a restoration project. It has a date attached to it.. :-)

after owning Roy for all of 3 months and considering our options for full resto. I decided to simply pull the engine and trans and freshin her up. This winters project will included interior restoration as well as an under the hood refresh. I also want to clean up the firewall and repaint the interior of the engine bay.

first step... get the stuff out.... Next weekend everything will be power washed....let the cleaning begin!!

Yes it is, When i get back this week i can snap a pick for you. Its never been removed from this rig. I cant tell the difference between this tank and any one I have removed from a 40..

Thanks Steve, i meant to call you on Sunday, i was going to see if you had any front disk axles. It turned into a Sunday Funday.... :-) got a front disk axle?

I will get the pic on Friday or Saturday...

And.........Subscribed.

Got the flapper disc out and wire wheel. Cleaned up the frame and painted. Spray bomb... main idea was to get it CLEAN.... 46 years of grease and oil made it a real pain to work on.... Next i will do some touch up on places i missed, wait for it to dry and begin cleaning and reassembling the associated firewall parts..

Picked up a "new" front axle for my winter project yesterday from Poser. I will clean it up this week and hopefully install it next weekend. I am going to do some searches for the booster and dual master cylinder conversion next. Once i have that stuff i can re-route the break lines....

Pulled old front axle tonight. New one is on the rack and getting the treatment. All new tie rod ends etc.

Almost ready for reassembly.... some more stuff to clean... should have it under the truck this weekend... Then i can get back to the trans/transfer case...

Is there any reason to hang on to the old drum break parts? The old school axle shafts are cool, bit i dont have the space to store all the extra stuff. Let me know if you need the axle shafts or old lock outs.

ball and claw are pretty much worthless unless someone actually needs them. I have a couple of the "balls" kept to make a shifter out of later in life.. THe diff could be reused if you put in new spiders and redrilled the holes to accept the 10mm studs. I toss em. we did donate one to utilize the front wheel bearing assembly for an M416 6 lug conversion to a club member. You can make one into a bird bath? I'd scrap it for steel weight.

Lots of progress today, lots of time in front of the parts washer. Got the axle partially reassembled, waiting on proper 3rd member. I buttoned up some stuff on the firewall and cleaned up the transfer case. Nice putting stuff back together finally. Starting to take shape..... trani gets a bath on Sunday... then the Packers game!!
