Something I would LOVE to do... Discuss...
The rear door would be made by cutting down an older vent window door without the vent window...
Modded rollbar a bit...

and I'd love to see, I've seen a widened version but not that.

cool concept and one that many of us have contemplated. however, short rear doors are a major PITA to get in and out of. i have owned 8 FJ45LVs and won't build another. not for myself anyways. way too difficult to get into and out of the back seat. also, very little leg room. the dimensions between the front and rear doors are about the same for an LV and what you've pictured above. i have since switched over to troopies and won't look back.

however, if you were to build the above rig with full sized rear doors, then you're gonna be in heaven.

i have a customer who is seriously thinking about having me build just such a vehicle. i guess we'll see what happens.........

Updated with long doors.

Heres a pic with the long doors.
The B Pillar would be created by building two rollbars in tandem, and tying them to the frame. These rollbars would would be sheathed in sheetmetal allowing for dome light, and overhead intigrated speakers. They would also be blended with the b pillar external sheetmetal for a nice clean look.

i appreciate the effort and though you've put into this, but to me that looks "cobbled" together.

if you were to tie the cage into the pillars, then it should "flow" a little better and not look like an afterthought or add-on.

with a little more tinkering and a few other ideas, this could be very cool. i think it would look better with a little more rear overhang, but that's purely personal prefferance. i know it would'nt be as "wheelable" with a worse departure angle, but chances are you would'nt wheel something like that all that hard anyways.

just my $.02

Might want to use an FJ80 frame and chassis, with a modified 40 series body up top....just saying.

except the older doors look completely different on the skins, so would you reskin with a newer doorskin?

One more for fun

This is prob the best one. Long doors but not a longer body. As you can see the rear doors now are farther back into the rear fender area. Moocho mods on this one...

Do rear suicide doors and then the B pillar doesn't need to be as reinforced.

It would just move the problem back to the C pillar.

I say stretch the tub so you can have another full seat, but keep it a 2 door so you don't have to deal with the extra doors. It wouldn't look as cool, I'll admit.
