Been lurking on Mud for some time, but finally ready to jump in. I appreciate all the advice and tech here. After years of being “too busy,” I finally got my priorities straight and am stepping back into the scene. I have had many built-up Toyotas in the past, so I am not necessarily new to off-roading or Toyota, but I am definitely excited to have a cruiser.

After more than a year of watching for the right color and deal, I picked up a 2010 LC 200 series. My 5-year old daughter quickly named her Sally (the first thing I thought of when she said that was Mustang Sally). She’s a lot heavier than a mustang, but the 5.7L has plenty of "get up and go". Not sure why, but at least in our family when the kid names something it seems to stick, so Sally it is.

I plan to put her together to be a strong family adventure vehicle. Huge thanks to @cruiseroutfit I started with an OME 2” lift and SPC UCAs and after plenty of bruised knuckles and choice words for the KDSS, I was able to get out on the dirt for the weekend.

After the maiden run in Moab and a couple minor bumps, I can tell Armor will be the next major components. Plan on ARB front bumper, ARB skids, and Slee sliders. Need to figure out the rear bumper (perhaps Slee, others?) since that is what received the most damage.

Future plans include drawers, roof rack, RTT?, and various electrical mods. But most importantly more family trips to the desert!

Awesome man! And welcome, this is the only forum I've stayed on, because of the respect and helpful nature of everyone. Probably some of the best people around are on here. Can't wait to see more wheeling pictures.

Congrats, and welcome!
You found the best vehicle and the best forum... And I see you are already putting dents in the stock bumper. WELL DONE, SIR!

Thanks all!

This seems like a great group. I definitely plan to get her out regularly so more pics should follow.

P,

Swing by anytime on your way to RS.

I will definitely take you up on that. Should be up that way later this week or next.

Nice. Maybe we'll cross paths on the Utah trails one day.

That would be great. I like the way your new bumper is looking will be great to see it finished.

Congrats, and welcome!

Gotta find some way to help justify the build funds to the wife! ;)

In reality, while I don't expect it to be a crawler, we definitely bought it to use it. All the damage is well below the cut off line for aftermarket bumpers.:hillbilly:

Truck looks awesome. Welcome. Just curious how it rides with the OME lift? I'm guessing this is just the shocks and springs and nothe BP-51 coilovers? Its really cool that this a family rig. Same as mine. My 3 year old has to go everywhere in the BIG TRUCK.

Thanks! Correct not the BP-51 I went with the heavy/medium kit. It rides a touch stiff but I haven't got the front bumper yet. Even without the bumper, I think it is better than stock. But, I felt the stock suspension was too soft.

Time will tell when as I progress how the weight will shift things out, but I think I will be pretty happy with it.

Welcome and the truck looks great. You and I have the exact same truck. Where did you source your lift from and did you happen to install the OEM 200-series spring spacers on the front?

I purchased the lift from @cruiseroutfit. I have always had a great experience with Kurt and Cruiser Outfitters. A great wealth of knowledge and fantastic company to do business with. Cruiser Outfitters I did the OME2703 Front OME Coils and OME2722 rear coils. If I would have known I would need a rear bumper so soon I would have probably done the OME2723 rear springs...

I did not install any spacers.

Thanks for the info. Is the truck sitting pretty level with the kit you have and would it be a bad idea to do the heavy kit for front and back with the stock front and rear bumpers? Obviously it will be somewhat stiff but otherwise? I see you did heavy front and medium rear. I don't really plan on ever doing a rear bumper and if I did the front, it would be a relatively light front bumper upgrade, e.g., no loop, winch, etc.

If you go too heavy you basically keep your shocks from compressing and rebounding as designed. It means you have to hit a HUGE bump before they compress, and if you manage to compress them without the weight, you're going to feel nearly ALL of it. Hurts traction because instead of absorbing bumps and staying planted and level, it's banging off of bumps and sending your truck up and down with each hit. No thanks.

I'll move to at least a heavy 2723 in the rear, but not until a heavy bumper with tire swing-out and 19 gallons of fuel capacity are added to my already full, heavy drawers in back.

My experience is that the truck is sitting really level right now with that combo. I imagine it might settle out a touch when the winch and bumper get put on, but I don't expect too much.

Yep, if you have no plans for heavy bumpers best not to go to the heavy springs. I had already planned to put an ARB bumper and winch within a couple weeks of installing the lift so it made sense for the front to go with the heavy springs. I hadn't planned on a rear bumper for a little while so it made sense to go with the medium there.

The rule of thumb from Cruiser Outfitters was if you don't have more weight over stock on the radar in the next 6 Months (at least for the rear coils), then don't go with the heavy. Of course, it is much easier to change out the rear springs when the time comes than the front.
