Back on it. Been sidetracked a bit. Doing what I should have done all along and laying some primer. About to block it with 400 and shoot color/clear in the am when it’s not 100 degrees +

Got home from a two day trip to Houston and had to load these doors onto the truck. Have a lot of hardware to put back in and will get to that when I start the wet sanding/buffing process. Overall I’m happy with the work. This should be a really nice 60 when I finish it for my boys mother.

@CenTXFJ60 you get your drivers door fitting like you want it?

Not necessarily. It no longer makes contact but the b-pillar side gap is wider than it should be. Received a good tip from Jason further up in this thread that I’ll try. In the end if water passes through with the gasket in place I’ll put another door on it.

So SAS was awesome. Spent 3 weeks in CO all together. Great place and a lot of good cruiser folks. Got to spend some time with Zack and Jarrod in The Springs @Nomadcruisers44 @Manitou Decline They we’re good enough to take care of my truck and camping trailer while I flew to Boston for a quick business trip. I’m sold on Zacks upholstery work. Gonna have him rebuild the foam on my stock seats for my blue 60.

So back at the copper cruiser. Cut the hood and front fenders with 1000 grit. A bit more aggressive than I needed to but the hood had more orange peel than the rest of the truck. Will step it up to 1500 and then 3-stage buff it. Been a few years since I’ve done this process so we will see how it goes.

Always happy to help people out, especially when it gives them a peace of mind. It was great getting to spend some time talking over steaks and beers. Stop by the shop anytime and the next round of steaks and beers are on me. We can also go cruise around the Garden of the Gods in the Corolla.

I’ll definitely be back. Really appreciate y’all’s hospitality Jarrod.

Wet sand to 1500 and 3 stage buffing. Came out really nice but have some fine scratches in it. Will rework the hood with the wool pad as the compound I had was really old and fairly dry. Amazon has a new bottle coming tomorrow front fenders are sanded. Just have to buff them. Then down the sides and the back. Will not touch anything above the rain gutter.

Looks good Jimmy

Yeah that looks great. In the photo the metal flake looks like it really pops. I don't see a thing wrong with that in those photos. Really nice.

Thank you @CruiserTrash & @Gretsch
I am very happy with it especially shooting in an open shop. You can see the fine scratches when you look closely at the pic with the reflection of the round LED light from the ceiling. So I’ll call this a “2-footer” paint job :).
Not too worried as I should be able to correct it.
