Window tint done except for one quarter glass. Had to order another roll via Amazon. Treated the mudflaps. Gave them the RC treatment @CaptClose
Will mount them manana. Running out of little s*** to do waiting on the headliner to get here. May start on the DNP carpet kit tomorrow. Enjoying a Modelo as the sun sets :).

What did you use to get those mudflaps looking so nice!? I recently bought a set of rears that are in really nice shape, but not that nice!

This was something I learned when @CaptClose worked on the mudflaps on my personal 60 several years ago. I soaked them for a day in a bucket of water with Dawn liquid soap. Then I scrubbed the heck out of them with a nylon brush. Lastly I used a white (oil based) paint pen to do the letters. Treated the metal bracket with Ospho and shot it with some black paint.

Man oh man what have I gotten myself into. Putting a new headliner in is quite a job. I did this with my Frankenstein build years back but that was the same liner that came in the truck. I’m doing a Cruiser Corps liner in this one. I guess it’s not much harder but you do have to stretch and trim so not a lot of room for error. It has gotten pretty dirty from laying inside the truck. Being vinyl it should clean up once the install is done. Here’s where I left off tonight. The worst part was using the wire wheel on my drill to get all that nasty OEM insulation off

Oh I'm definitely following along now! This exact job is in my future, CruiserCorp liner and all. I've heard this job is a tricky one, and there are not a lot of threads I could find that offered much help, other than to say how finicky it was. There was this thread while back by @Aloha Jen, starting at post 27, and they used a bunch of spring clamps to help hold things in place while pulling and stretching. I was planning to do the same. Either way, I'm sure you've got this. Keep us posted.

Hey Ken, you’re right…I could not find a detailed thread on this process. I’m taking a lot of pictures and may do a separate thread if I get the opportunity. So I’m using the original clips that I removed from the OEM headliner to hold the liner in place as I stretch and manipulate it into the optimal place. They work fairly well, but do pop off every once in a while. Once a section is where I want it I use the Weldwood glue to permanently attach it. Let me know if you don’t have my cell and I’ll get it to you. Glad to text you any pics I take along the way.
Thanks. Jimmy

Another evening in the books. A few wrinkles but feel I can get them out when I put in the grab handles and the dome light. This was fun…but it’s a good many days to do this. Especially from beginning to end. I’m in 2 days and there was not a headliner in the truck to begin with. Still have the lights, visors, mirror, grab handles and the windshield to put in. There’s no doubt an upholsterer would charge a butt load to do this job. Oh…I still need to clean it. Did a spot check or two and the dawn/water takes everything right off.

Holy s***!!! This is awesome. I just cut this down to a “one day” install. If I had seen this video ahead of time I would have had a much easier time. This guy is really good. So a few things I would have done differently. Applying that pink foam padding to the insulation is huge. I can see how it allows the bows to stick to the ceiling. I struggled with pulling all the bows up (started in the back). By the time I got to the front they had so much tension they kept flopping backwards. And the wire on the front bow is genius. The factory did not do this but what a great tip. Lastly…he glued the whole perimeter and then worked his way around the truck. Hindsight I now know the glue will perform even though that time is elapsed. And Dam…the one time being over 6’ tall really hurts. I would have a tough time doing all that work from inside the truck but what an advantage.
Thank you @himhj60 for sharing this video.

I'm part way through this video, but man it's great to see someone do this before tackling it yourself. Jimmy, you mentioned the bars flopping over. One thing I noticed when I removed my original liner is there were these 3 wire clips at the rear-most bow holding it to the back of the truck. Did you have these? Now that I look at them again, I don't recall how they were clipped to the body of the truck. I attached some pics. Anyone know?

This is becoming a headliner thread. Should we start a new one and leave Jimmy's fine paint work to stand on it's own?

Hey Ken, so I had (or only found) 2 clips for the rear bow. The one on your tub is exactly how they clip in. You have another pic with 3 of them on a bow. That’s how they clip to the bow. It will make sense once you hook the rear bow into the tub and flip it up against the rear of the tub. Once you slide the bow through the sleeve on the liner, mount the bow to the roof, flip it up, and then you’ll need to poke a hole through the sleeve while connecting the hook to the bow. Which I would have taken a picture of this for you. I can find another oEM liner that I’ve removed in the past and get a pic of needed

Finally pulled the trigger on my favorite mirrors. You can only get the LH side one from Toyota so getting both is fairly difficult. So when I found them I bought a few extra sets :). The next truck to get them will be my sons red 60 that I’ll start restoring after this one’s out of the barn.
