August 15-17.

This is going to be a special one. I believe this is our 15th year. While in the beginning we used to travel from trail to trail and camp in a different spot with us finishing up at our normal spot on the parkway for Saturday night, we now just stay the whole weekend at our spot off the BRP. As we get closer to the week of the event I’ll provide more details.

What you need to know. The trail is tight. It isn’t hard but you will scratch your paint from all the limbs on this trail. It’s only about 4 miles long. You will be dealing with hikers of all kinds. Some nice some not so. All I ask is that everyone be nice. This is our special place and I’d rather not give anyone a reason to shut this trail down. See people on horses pull over as much as you can and cut your cruiser off and let them past.

Weather. Be prepared for the potential for shorts but also the potential for crazy wind, rain and snow. Yeah it can get that cold though this summer may be a shorts one.

Tent and vehicle camping.

More info as we get closer.

I am planning on being there.

I'd love to try and make it to this one.

Forecast in range. Certainly subject to change but damp and mild. Reminder, bring firewood.

Sierra Nevada @ 11:30 on Friday for those that want to get lunch prior to hitting the trail. If you don't want to go to SN and want to hit the trail and know where we usually go then hit it. It would be nice for someone to get there early and give us some trail and camp conditions.

Those that want to just meet at the parking lot where the trail begins it's here. 35°19'33.7"N 82°52'53.3"W - https://maps.app.goo.gl/uGto3T4y7Z5auWEg6
There will be some rain. Not sure how much but some. So bring some rain gear and if your tent isn't waterproof a tarp to go over the top. I'll bring the club canopy if I can find it. Don't know who has it. The high for the weekend is in the mid 60's lows

I'm going to let everyone bring your own food. I would normally bring the big griddle but last time I did it got used very little. Bring water as there is none at elevation. If you have a dog have a leash if they might get into it with other dogs. The hiking trail runs right through camp so plan on hikers to come through and just be nice. Bring firewood for the fire at night. Bring a chair for everyone in you family. Pack out your trash or at least be prepared to. There will probably be a trailer that can haul it out but if not just be prepared.

Lows look to be in the mid to high 50's but as I say every time weather can change in 10 min. Be prepared for low 50's to mid 70's just to be sure. Wind is supposed to be light but there will be some wind.

Communications. There is some cell service out there. It's not great but it's there. I'll let someone that has all the radio stuff explain the various devices and channels used.
