also had to remount my rear bumps. you can see in the last pic where they werent hitting the pad in the right spot.

i noticed the hydraulic lines were rubbing a bit more than i liked on the bottom of the radiator. i used a 3/8th nut as a spacer and set the radiator back a bit.

cleared the lines well

added a prefilter

winch mount. i had my buddy cut down my old multi mount so i could reuse here.
basically i took a piece of 3x4x.25 angle and welded it to my mount. then welded that all up to the truck
trimmed up the grille a bit to set the winch back a little. i wasnt into butchering the supports etc. want to keep air to the radiator and winch line off the radiator too.

the newest edition comes again from necessity, the mother of invention. i took my spare on the prerun as i dont really trust radial tires. i have been on bias for almost ten years and the only issue i ever had was a broken valve stem. long story short, the 40 takes up all the cargo room. this of course isnt going to work when i actually need to haul gear. so i had been thinking of something easy and most importantly cheap to solve my problem. after pre run i went home and stared at the truck for a couple hours (my best paul jr impression)

came up with this.

folds down out of the way via a hitch pin. totally falls below the gate so i get full use. also works as a step for short people. no nick you cant try it out

cheesy antenna mount. cb is kind of a pain in the ass, plagued by mounting placement and tearing the wires off this should be a safe spot

so i havent had much useful free time lately. been working from dark till dark and its cold out. so i bought an rc crawler to work on inside. pics later on that guy.

anyhow i figured i had made enough changes to the runner to post updates.

so it goes a little something like this. after i got back from mcgrew i came to the sad conclusion that i had a leaking intake manifold gasket, which fills the valley up with coolant, which leaks out onto the bellhousing. so a couple not so entertaining pics of that.

2nd pic: the plate at the back of the manifold, i just replaced the heater hose attached thinking it was the leak. well it was leaking, but. .

looks like 3 of the four ports were leaking

so another thing that had been plaguing me was driveline vibes. well as much as i hate to say it, i knew the t-case output shaft was bent when it was in the black truck. but in my haste during the build i rebuilt the case with the same bad shaft.
so i got a new to me (read:used) Longfield output shaft 4340 chromo. came out of the slee homegrown buggy. anyway, when i took the case apart i measured run-out at the flange, .030" next to the flange nut.

pic of the speedo gear that wouldnt go onto the new shaft because of the damage caused by the bent shaft. you can see by the relationship of parts, that when i flopped the driveline one day it bent the shaft right between the two.

as you can see, its all i can do to get the runner inside, it gives me about a 4x5 workspace between the rig and my toolbox. . .
