Not really news to anyone but this is especially true AT HOME. Whatever size extinguisher you think you need, double it, and then buy 2 of them.

Quote from article:
"During an attempt to start, the engine backfired through the intake, blowing the intake off of the runners, and setting the fuel hoses on fire. By the time I had caught my dog, who had been sleeping in the garage, the entire engine bay was ablaze. By the time I had dialed 911, the garage door was on fire. The garage burned down, taking my 84 GTI, and my brother’s Audi 200 TQ Avant and Alfa 164Q with it."

That is awful. At least he had a detached garage, so it didn't take the whole house down.

John,

Comporium is only in a couple of newish developments. Basically, they worked out deals with the developers up front to allow them exclusive rights to serve the neighborhoods. They're not going to serve you. I wouldn't waste my time there.
<snip>
I wish I could get it in Matthews, but my options are Windstream or TWC...and they both suck.

That is what happened in our neighborhood, but we do have fiber optic to the house ....

We now have TWC available in the neighborhood as well and after experiences with them from a business perspective, never again will I deal with them ....

Every year for the All-star race some friends and I have a big tailgate party at the race track. We rent two RV spots, set up pop up tents, a projection screen with satellite, several corn hole tournaments, a BBQ medal winner as our chef for the day, and beer. We have been doing this for about 10 years now and we usually have between 30-50 people float in and out.

If anyone is planning to attend the race you could join us before the race. There is plenty of free parking near our spots. If you are not going to the race but like to have a good time, come on out. We do not go into the race, we just watch it on the projection screen. We have a blast and is about the only time all year I drink to excess.

The race is scheduled for Saturday 5/16. We will be out there Friday night and all day Saturday.

If anyone is interested in joining us PM me for directions to our RV spots. BYOB, there will be plenty of food to eat.

We need to welcome Chris at The Outpost to the dark side. Just got his first Cruiser. A 1992 FJ 80.

Since I know you old farts like to reminisce I thought I would share. My neighbor dropped off a box full of old car mags and told me I could have them or get rid of them. I'm keeping a few but the rest are up for grabs, FREE.
These range from '65 to '70. There are no complete year sets, the most issues in a year is about 10.

A few covers of interest, to me anyway.

A 4X4 comparison. I'm keeping this one. The 40 was reviewed as a rough ride but capable on any surface except sand (it got stuck and the Rover had to winch it out)

Interesting Renault ad. True marketing genius.

Does that say 1967 for the year?

Can you imagine waking up on a Saturday and being to go to each of the dealerships and test drive that great group of vehicles? That would have been insane.

Found a copy on amazon. Ordered. Thank you for posting.

Facebook is an absolutely stupid site for the casual user. I don't care to learn how it works, how to navigate, or how to post. It'd be nice if they removed the ads and made it so that I COULD BACKCLICK AND STILL SEE THE ICON I CLICKED TO GET THERE. I'm no programmer/developer/wahteverthef^kyouare, but does a 3 year really run their site? Let me remove the stupid movies/tv shows/etc section (that i refuse to set up) from my profile before my friends think that I like whatever crap they're trying to plug by putting there. And if I haven't set it up in over a year, maybe I'm not gonna, so stop emailing me to tell me I have to.

I have plenty of other thoughts about this but they're probably best kept to myself.

What's Facebook?:)

I spend enough time on this site. I don't have time for FB. Luckily the company I work for does not use it.

Yeah all that work and paint it orange :/

Jose truck is pretty sweet though. 4 wheel underground 3 link hellfire knuckles etc ..... He's come a long way from the body lift and thornbirds he had before.

From GSMTR 2015. We were talking about this at the meeting. The guy who was standing too close and had the truck fall on him got away with 3 broken ribs.

Trail safety tip of the day: Always stand at a safe distance from a truck that's attempting an obstacle and NEVER stand downhill of a truck, ever.

Holy $&!t. I'm seriously surprised no one stopped the driver (and on another note was there even a spotter?) long enough to clear the area. I honestly can't imagine that scenario with our club without at least 3 others saying something.
